Just wanted to share what might be the best kept secret in the shooting sports. I tried the KG Industries barrel cleaning products the past few days. Their KG-12 copper solvent contains no ammonia, and will not harm the barrel. It cuts copper like nothing else I've tried. Their KG-2 cleaner also removes copper, but the KG-12 is fatser. These products were developed for the military's "big guns". The web link is listed below. As a test, I tried the KG-12 for 2 patches, then KG-2 for 2 patches, then Kriol to loosen everything and then 3 dry patches. Just to check for copper that might have been left behind, I took a swipe with Sweet's (because it turns green/blue as it re-acts with the copper. The patch came out with no color. The KG-2 2 really cuts through powder residue as well. These products are the best I've found. Just wanted to share that with everyone.

Blain, how is the odor? I`ve been useing Wipe Out at home and Sweets on the range for some time now because of the odor most cleaners have. The wife won`t let Sweets or CR-10 in the house, let alone let me use it inside.
I like the Wipe out simply because it works so well with so little work, and I can use it in my gun room inplace of standing in a cold garage while useing the others.
I noticed KG-2 is an abrasive cleaner, is the KG-12 also??

The KG-12 is a watery consistancy with a bright yellow color (kinda looks like pee  ) The odor is not pleasant, but is not offensive either. It is not very strong at all. You have to put your nose right down to the bottle to smell it. The KG-2 is called an abrasive cleaner, but it seems to me to be similar to J-B paste that has been watered down to a "slurry" type consistancy. you can feel small particles of grit, but they seem to break down or disolve as you work them in your hand. Again, the odor is not like perfume, but it is very mild. I believe you could clean your gun in the living room and it would not offend the one sitting across the room. BTW, if you go to the site linked above, be sure to go to the KG-12 section and click on the "test results". It is a real eye opener. It was what got me to try the product in the first place.
