I might be wrong but I thought I read somewhere that Kimber rifles had a Winchester style trigger in them. I was looking at an American Rifleman magazine today and they showed one taken out of the stock. It appeared to be something other than a Winchester style. I did not get a chance to read the article so it may have been replaced. Anyone have the correct answer? Thanks.

Lefty,

The Kimber of Oregon rifles copied the Winchester trigger design. I have not seen one of the Kimber of New York rifles out of the stock, so no answer on that.

The latest Kimber rifles DO NOT have a trigger that resembles a Winchester Model 70 trigger in any way shape or fashion.

The closest thing they come to is the trigger in a Howa.

The one I worked with in a 22-250 made recently by Kimber was pretty sorry. The factory pull pretty crappy. The trigger was not that easy to adjust and would not stay set where I wanted it. It was inconsistant on my Lyman trigger scale. Just not very impressive, but then nothing about that rifle was. The groups were sorry for a 22-250 rifle.

I spent a couple of months messing with a Kimber 84M in 22-250 and was just not impressed. The trigger was only ONE of the dissapointments.

I have five new Kimber rifles. All of them have excellent easily adjusted triggers. Four of them are 84M's and one is a 8400. The triggers seem the same on both models.

There are two screws in the front of the trigger for trigger weight and backlash and the one in the rear adjusts the sear engagement. It's very easy to do this adjustment and there is an inspection window on the side of the housing where one might add some moly powder for instance.

All of my Kimber triggers are crisp and most are adjusted to about 2.5 to 3 lbs.

If anyone had the problems mentioned above and can't figure out what to do just call up Kimber. Kimber really cares and will take care of it for you.

I have the latest Kimber here by the computer. It's a 5 lb, 2 oz. Montana in 308 Win. What a sweet rifle.
