I've been using Kroil for about a month now, and ran into something interesting.
I had just pushed out the first application of Sweets.
Still plenty of copper in the bore - I wanted to go to bed and didn't want to leave Sweets in it overnight. So I sent a few dry patches down the bore, then applied a heavy coat of Kroil.
When I got home from work the following day, I ran a dry patch down the bore to remove the Kroil so I could continue with the Sweets...... Well, that patch came out blue! Not the red that I expected. The Kroil had disolved ALL the copper in the bore!!!
No blue streaks on the patch.
Not slimey blue jelly, but the same consistency as the Kroil.
No sign of any red coloring at all.
It started dripping out the muzzle as I pushed the patch in.
So either the sweets started the deteriorization of the copper and the Kroil finished it, or the Kroil did it all by itself.
Have any of you seen this happen?
And is Kroil really safe to leave in the bore for extended periods of time?
Next time I'm going to try cleaning with only Kroil, and let it soak a day to see how the copper fairs. This may be a great thing!!!
