Lace on or strap on cheek piece?

That new marlin I just picked up has the scope mounted fairly high to clear the rear peep sight. I'd like to get a cheek riserto get better cheek weld but want it easily removable to comfortably use the ghost ring sight.

I was looking at The accu-riser with wood grain veneer. Anyone ever try this or know of a good alternative?

This is the one I was looking at, it has adjustable spacers and can be attached with Velcro strap or screws

Web search, I like that is adjustable and can strap on so its not permanent.

I use one of these on my rifles.



Not traditional, but very functionable and allows you to carry some extra rounds and be taken off easily with velcro.

Rodger, I love my rifles, but they do not live an easy life in the mountains. They are tools and the marks on them will tell a story when I am long gone. I don't want someone to think they were safe queens! :grin:

I here yeah Buddy. Mine aren't safe Queens for sure either and they do get dings and scratches and everyone is a story but I do use a piece of gun case vinyl to lay on the shooting benches or a rifle case to protect them from unnecessary injury. Besides I had to pull your string. I did notice the Marlin got to lay on the Remington's rifle strap. :roll: :mrgreen:
How much height do you get out of your cheek pads?

Look like winchesters to me!!! I have a few rifles I try to keep nice, but the few I do serious work with get beat up pretty bad!

I ordered the accu riser and let you guys know how it turns out

I got the accu-riser today. It looks pretty good and helps quite a bit with alignment. I'll know more when I get a chance to shoot it. So far it looks to be a good purchase.

Shot it today, the accu-riser would slide forward during recoil but otherwise it was more comfortable than not having it. I might play around with some adhesive Velcro to keep it from sliding.

The rifle shot great with BB 405 fr jsp

The adhesive Velcro seemed to do the trick. I shot the 45/70 again today with my favorite blasting load, 405 rem JSP @ 1930fps using starline brass and H322.

Recoil is crisp but the cheek piece never moved over the course of 20 rounds from the bench.

This rifle is proving to be an excellent shooter. Here is an example of its shooting at 100 yards

That is definitely MOM (minute of moose). Seriously, that shoots very well, which is common with many Marlins.
