leopard anyone?

Wow, low and fast.
I've read where for every second a lepord is attacking
a human, its about 100 sutures!

Fortunately, they only weigh about 130 pounds or so. Think of how it would be if they weighed 250?

That would definitely get your blood moving. Sorta' like tackling a buzz saw racing at full speed. If the claws and teeth connect, someone is going to get hurt. The "Go Pro" definitely puts the viewer in the action.

I bet there were some soiled shorts there. It looks like the leopard just about bit the end of his barrel. Its funny how you don't really hear two shots initially until it's in slow motion.

I watch my 14 pound Tom grab hummingbirds out of the air! My other Tom catches flies in the air and eats them. Fortunately these cats are only 12 & 14 pounds. I would not like messing with a 130 or 250 pound cat who had designs on me as dinner. Particularly when a 130 pound leopard carries a 350 pound antelope 30 feet up into a tree in his mouth!

I hunted Jaguars once when I worked in Costa Rica as a drill site manager back in the 1960's. I never saw or shot one but hearing them coughing in the middle of the night 40-50 yards away was enough to stand the hair on my neck on end! We hunted them with bait, lights and 12 gauge shotguns. We never even got to turn the lights on but it was interesting, regardless.

That's pretty cool Charlie - about hunting the jaguar in Costa Rica.

Saw some strange stuff in the jungles of Central America, but we weren't hunting.

Big cats have always fascinated me... Incredible creatures.

Guy, this was in 1968 when I was in Costa Rica working. Che Guevara was running a guerrilla training camp in Guatemala. We are drilling 8,000 feet up on a 12,000 foot volcano for sulphur. Nothing much to do in Liberia, Costa Rica except fishing and hunting. I was 25 years old and in a lot better condition than I am now. We carried 12 gauge pumps with 00 buckshot

What's the preferred medicine for in-close charging leopard anyway? 12 ga with buckshot?

Does or has anyone ever built a multiple barrel 12 gauge say four barrels that could fire simultaneously or in quick succession.

I have accidently fired two barrels of a 10 ga when I was about 10 years old, never again!

I've done that sneaking up over the dam on a pond to kill ducks when I was in high school. A double barreled double triggered 10ga was the only gun left in the cabin so that is what I used. I'll remember that forever most likely.

Most people don't die from the actually cat but from the wounds almost always turn septic in a few hours. If left untreated, even the slightest wound, in a hot climates putrefaction can set up in 24 hours.

I worked for one guy that had been mauled by a Lion and had a job lined up with another that had been as well. Both lived to tell their story, Roger Whittall almost lost the use of his arm but was able to rehab it back to almost full use, and his ear still bares the mark of his attacker. I knew another outfitter as well who had been charged and got a little tangled up with his Lion.... that one was on video camera and is very fast and furious as well.

Leopard's are known for disemboweling people while biting them in the head and sinking their front claws in your back...... you gotta love that! Both of these cats are difficult to hunt, almost always it's hard to get a clear shot on account of the thick cover, and they both can hide behind a tuft of grass or small brush. Both can be quick when they want to spring into action, and the Leopard loves to back track and wait for their pursuer in an ambush which is why most will bring in a Dog and have a shotgun ready.

I used to hear this Lion roar in the morning before the sun came up while in camp in Zimbabwe. I actually thought it was cool to hear him every now and then......... Africa is a beautiful place and my favorite.

Chui!
I'd love to take one. Sounds like they fight like some of the inmates I've been forced to roll around with.

Thank you but I left that line of work.
I gave it ten solid years but I'm done. Left in August and glad I did. :)
