Seems like all load data starts with 55 gr stuff. I've got some 40's I'd like to try out of mine. Should I just start with top end 223 Rem loads? The max loads in the Nosler manual are way slower than advertised, but then again I'm only running an 18"bbl.

Going "off book" on this one. Trying 30.5 and 31.0 of TAC to start with the Berger 40 gr. Also have some 40 gr Vmax to try.

Should be a screamer.
Let us know how she shoots.

Not good, 2-3" at 200 yds, very large fire balls and cases very sooty all the way back to the base. Guess I'll stick with the 55's.

I had great luck with the 40 gr. BT. If I remember right I was using IMR 4895, or CFE 223, but was getting sub inch groups @ 100 yards and 3650 out of a 20" barrel.

For anyone interested Nosler now has load data on their site for 40 gr bullets. An article I read said H4895 should be the best for the light bullets.
