Lightweight terror

When this first generation Rem 700 Titanium in 7mm saum popped up recently I couldn't help myself and bought it immediately. Thankfully, it came with 100 Remington cases , 65 of which had never been used, so I dont think its had too much use. Load development will start shortly with RL19, RL22, RL25 & RL26 my first powder preferences. Just gotta find a decent scope and I'll be underway. Here's a few pics of my new bangstick.

Excellent. I’ve long believed .284 is the sweet spot for North American hunting. Actually pretty much anywhere with just a few exceptions. Looking forward to your reports from the field.

I absolutely love my Model 700 Titanium. It's in 7X08 and shoots lights out at 100 yards (3X4 inch three shot groups) Naked weight is 4 1/2LBS. With a Leupold 2.5X8 and three cartridges in the Blind mag it's just a hair under 6LBS. It's taken many Deer but I've kept it in excellent condition. Purchased mine first year of production. Congrats on a good buy.

Great rifle and very cool cartridge. Another one of the green machine's marketing failures. If I had just one cartridge for where I shoot and it was a 7SAUM, I'd be a happy camper...the game, not so much ;-)

I've heard the same thing about the 7MM WSM. For some reason it was a flop. I had a chance to buy a Winchester M70 FWT in 7MM WSM and probably the only reason I didn't buy was the difficulty findin ammo and brass at the time.

I think that 7mm WSM was probably the star student out of all of the WSM family with the exception of the 300 WSM perhaps. I have a 270WSM, 300 WSM and a wildcatted 257 WSM (not the WSSM). All are very good, but I think the 7MM shines especially if you were to exploit longer free bores with higher BC projectiles. It also has a little more horsepower over the 7 SAUM. Forgive me for re-directing the thread discussion. Carry on...
