Well, while I was deployed, I ordered a Limbsaver grind to fit for my 1895G. The recoil wasn't punishing by any stretch, but with 400gr bullets, it came back. The Limbsaver does have a little hump towards the top, presumable to assist with muzzle jump a little? Not sure, but it was my first grind to fit pad, and really, it was pretty easy. I sketched the outline of the stock on the new pad and used a large disc sander in order to take the majority of the extra off. Then, I threw the pad in the freezer for about a 1/2 hour. Once it was cold and fairly hard, I used a block and some 180 grit. I did tape off the stock and just sanded down to the tape with the block and sanding paper. Overall, it turned out pretty decent for my first try. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Freezing the pad assists in taking the material off without too much issue. Anyhow, here are the pictures. Also, it was a Limbsaver #10542 I used for the install.

Love those grind to fit pads. I have several on my rifles. Looks like you did a pretty skookum job, Scotty. I think you will appreciate the difference it makes when those rounds torch off.

Thanks Mike. I am glad I did it, saved me a few bucks and now I know how it is done! Scotty

Don't know yet. Bowhunted this morning, so might get out today, but more than likely, I will get out tomorrow after hunting to see how it feels. I imagine it should be a little more pleasant, but it wasn't horrible in the first place. Muzzle jump is something else entirely, but I kinda wanted to go after something that looked better than the old pad, plus, the stock pad really doesn't serve any purpose, it is harder than a 20 year old, used tire. Thanks buddy. Almost looks as nice as a Pachmayr now! Scotty
