Just bought some h1000 and retumbo for reloading 7mm rem mag with 162 sst will be using federal 215 primers h1000 will be using federal brass and retumbo hornandy brass. Any load data will be appreciated. Most data I find is under 60000 psi I think the 7 rm is capable of more. 24 inch sako 85 if it matters.

I never, ever, go over 60KSI with any load, magnum or not. I have made to almost 70 with all eyes, fingers and hands intact as well. I have a Sako Model 85 also and plan to have it into the future by loading carefully for it.

hundmeister, that max pressure for the H1000 for the 162's is 49,600 and the max pressure for the Retumbo is 50,500. do try to go anywhere near that 60,000 with that. It is VERY dangerous. Are you trying to use this load for hunting or just target?

Sound advice from our fellow posters. Going up that high is just asking for trouble. The problem with running with so little safety margin, is that you're betting that there are no other variables. (One hot primer, one batch of powder a little out of norm..) Playing with fire mate.

That said, you also have a practical limit with that bullet. The SST is an amazing bullet, I've had superb accuracy with some loads, but it's still traditional cup and core design. If you're going to be pushing the velocity envelope, go with something with stronger construction like the AccuBond, Partition or their peers.

Although if you're using the 162g, you're probably not as close to the margin on the design as you would be pushing a 139g hard.

67-69g h1000 and 69-71g of retumbo will probly get you under MOA at 2850-2950fps with the 162 sst.

I did some tinkering with them in my latest 7 Rem mag, which is a model 70 w/26" bbl and thats what I was getting. I'm using win brass and cci250 primers, loaded bout .005" off lands.

I'm going to be doing some more with this bullet and few different powders here soon. Like to get down to consistent 1/2-3/4 MOA at 2900-2950fps.

Here's what it looks like if you go up to 66k:

Code:
Cartridge : 7 mm Rem. Mag.
Bullet : .284, 162, Hornady SST InterLock 28452
Useable Case Capaci: 72.482 grain H2O = 4.706 cm³
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 3.290 inch = 83.57 mm
Barrel Length : 24.0 inch = 609.6 mm
Powder : Hodgdon H1000

Of course, quickload doesn't adjust for brass and primers automatically, SO YOUR LOAD COULD BE HOTTER THEN SUGGESTED.

I just ran it with the H1000, bucause it's difficult to get enough retumbo into the case to go above 60k.

In any event use with care, remember, it's your face behind the bolt.
