I was wanting to know if anyone has experimented with the ct bullets for varmint hunting. What kind of load data and results were achieved. I'm trying to gather info for the ballistic tip, ct, and maybe v-max. I have a remington 700VS with a 1:14 twist. Thanks
While I have not shot any CT bullets out of my 22-250, I have shot quite a lot of 50 & 55 BT's and 50 & 55 V-maxes. These bullets generally have been quite accurate in my 700, with powder credits going to Varget, Vihtavuori N-140, AA2520, H380 and IMR4320. Many groups are under ½" for 5 at 100 meters. I also have a Swift and in comparing them I find that the 22-250 will usually take about 3 grains less powder than the Swift for about 150 fps less velocity. For strictly shooting tight groups, my best load is: 55 V-Max in a WW case, sparkedby a Fed 210M primer and 36 grains of Vihtavuori N-140. You would want to approach from below carefully, since ½ grain more powder shows a pretty flat primer in my rifle. Regards, Eagleye.
