Santa is bringing me a remotely-controlled coyote caller this year.
I plan to hunt with my Ruger Mod. 77V in 220 Swift. I believe it is twisted 1:14". I expect shots to be no more than 200 yards, here in NH. Can anyone suggest a good starting load?

My next smallest caliber is a .270. Any reason it would be a better choice for coyotes?

jack , iv''e owned a77v in a swift my-self 1in 14 twist is correct...shot 55 grain bts great, any brand will do. what powders do you have on hand? many will work, iv''e got 9 or 10 re-loading manuals on stand by  your 270 will work great but it recoils way 2 much, not knocking it i own several... coyotes are a great challenge too hunt.....regards and awaiteing your reply, jjmp

Try IMR 4064, 50 gr. Nosler BT, CCI Lg. Rifle primer, Winchester brass. My velocity is 3834, accuracy is excellent, puts holes in Groundhogs at 605 yds.. Try keeping your velocity between 3800 and 3900 fps., seems to be the sweet spot for me, my rifle. 8)

transonic
