I'm going to try some 90gr E-tips in my 243. I have never loaded monolithic bullets before.
Two things I have read are:
Seat .100" off the lands.
Use middle charge for max.

What else do I need to know?
Are my velocities going to be lower or similar to a standard lead bullet?
Do I use faster, slower or the same powders I would normally use for that bullet weight/cartridge.

I'm having my Winchester featherweight pillar bedded, it was not shooting as well as expected.
I will be picking it up my from my gunsmith next week and will start loading next weekend, weather permitting.
Wish me luck

Randy

Powders that work well with cup and core bullets will work well with monolithic bullets. Velocities may or may not be lower. One hundred thou off the lands works for many people, sometimes closer works better and other times farther tightens groups. You will like the performance with the monolithic bullets, I do believe.

You are on track, just have to see what your rifle likes best.

velvetant my son has used his 6mm with 90 gr. E-tips to great success. He has taken deer and antelope and this year a nice fat cow elk with it with one shot. His cow only went 25-30 yards after he hit her right behind the shoulder and it exited out her off-side shoulder!

Doc is right about powders in that 4350 and some of the others will work just fine. I don't recall off the top of my head, but I believe his are loaded .050 off the lands. The load his rifle liked uses the new Hodgdon H100V powder and it shoots really well.

I believe you will like the bullet and the performance on game. It actually has a higher BC than the 100 gr. Partition!

Good Luck.
David
