I recently loaded some 165 gr. AB's. I tested for my seating depth using two methods. I got a final COL of 3.537 which is about .002 - .003 off of the lands. I have two manuals that show a max. COL of 3.340. Not only are my rounds way over listed COL, they just look plain funny. Is this anything to be alarmed about?

My rifle is a Rem. 700

Welcome to the forum.

So long as they function through the magazine and shoot good for you, you wont have any problems. They look funny because you are not used to seeing bullets seated long.
Several calibers I load for have the bullets seated out. Take a look at how long my 280AI is with the 160 gr AB.

JD338,

You have probably been asked this before, but how many rounds is that in that hole?
