I went to the range this morning to sight in my long range deer load with my Savage 116FHSS. I fired a five shot group and was just barely left of the center line so I adjusted one click right and fired five more rounds. My extreme spread for 10 rounds was 11.10fps and my deviation was 6, and it was the 165gr HPBT G/K moving 3168fps. I am getting much better extreme spreads and deviation numbers with Remington brass. What I think is so cool is the fact that I shot five then adjusted one click right to see if the scope moved as I expected (throwing the 7th round) and still have a 10 shot group just under an inch minus bore encluding the one round I threw.

165gr HPBT, IMR4350, Rem brass, CCI250 primers, moving 3168fps, ES 11.10 and Dev 6

I shot a 10 round group with my Ruger Hawkeye 358Win using AA2495GR. Still have to adjust load and sight this one in. All in all it was a good day. :)

Details! Seriously, that looks great. Attention to detail pays off in accuracy and confidence.

Thanks Dr, I need to adjust the load for the 358Win. I actually seated the bullet just a tad to deep. I will be ready for black timber, thick swamp conditions and any hog or deer for sure. I am using the 225gr SBT in it right now. I also use the 225gr AccuBond with TAC for heavier game.

Mike, that load looks excellent! Way to go. Can't see any deer walking away from one of those, EVER! Scotty

Not if I can help it

Outstanding performance Mike. You do realize, though, with targets like that we will expect you to call which ventricle of the heart you're aiming at before you shoot...

Usually the upper left :)

I am guessing that you are shooting some sort of 30 cal mag rifle to get those velocities with the 165 Sierra GK. If those are 100 yard groups you are ready. By the way that 165 GK is an awesome deer bullet. I used to shoot it in a 30-06. Sight in 3" high at 100 yards an you will not have to worry about shooting over or under a deer out to about 350 yards with a center shoulder hold.

It is my 300Win Mag :)

That is some impressive shooting! I guess things like that happen when a guy is as strict in his loading detail as you are.

Well done!

Thanks, now the wait!!!!! Waiting for the deer season. Might get to call in a few coyote before then just to get things started. Well see if I can get a friend to let me do it on his land. :)

bullet,
That is some fine shooting buddy! Guess it pays to be anal about reloading, Huh?
Good job, awesome groups. Your ready for hunting season.
