I plan to load 250 gr Partitions in a 338 Win mag. I have alot of H414 so that is the powder I would like to use. The only data I can find for this combination is on Hogdon's website (max load is 65.0 gr. = 2622 fps). If anyone has other data for this combination I would be interested.

If you go to a slower powder like H4831 or RL 22, you could get another 150 fps.

Can't help you with W760 or H414, but RL19 is my go to powder for the 338WM. It shoots everything from 200 AB's to 250 PT's and AB's pretty well.

I ended up loading 65.0 gr of H414, average velocity of 2615 fps. 4 Shot group of about 1".

Man, nothing wrong with that! I am pretty sure nothing will step too far away after a hit from that load. Something about the 338 just screams for 250's. Not fast or flashy, but effective as all get out.

What is the temps you built that load in? Just wondering? Are you going to retry it as it gets warmer?

Temp was about 45 degree F, I will shoot them again in the 60 -70 degre range to make sure they still seem ok. I plan to use them for Elk so 45-50 F is typically as warm as it gets that time of year around here.

Makes sense to me. I usually run the loads in the cold of the winter and then the Summer to make sure I have something that works over 99% of the shooting I will do.. Sounds like you have some leeway for Summer shooting as well.
