I think I am getting there with a few of these rifles.

.338wm
75gr of RL19 and the 210PT=1.757 with the 3rd shot pulled and I called it at the bench. The first 2 shots measured .670"
75.5gr = 1.760" but the bolt was kind of stiff when I opened it
76=I did not shoot due to 75.5 showing a stiff bolt

22-250
I changed from Win 760 to IMR 4064 and my over all groups are going down
55 V-Max

35.7gr=.643
36.0=.911
36.3=1.153
36.6=.389

I am going to test them all again on the next trip and then focus on the best one.

6.5 Grendel

XBR8208 and 123 Amax

26.0=.722
26.3=.968
26.6=.697

I have shot 26.0 5 times now and the 5 group average is .659 with the smallest of .386 and largest being .809. I think I found my load for the Grendel.

.223=10 shot group with my 4x scope= all 10 rounds in 4"x4'" target=minute of yote!!

Here is my best of the day with the 22-250

Here is my group with the .338 and 75gr of RL19

Nice shooting! The 3rd shot, way more often than not, is a killer for me too. If you called it from the bench your getting there.

I am thinking of trying something different. Take 3 clean targets of the same size and shooting one shot at each, then stacking them on top of each other to see the group. I shoot a lot of archery and know that seeing the other arrows in a small group plays tricks on the mind. I often times only shoot one arrow at a time because of this.

Why not. Doesn't seem like a bad thing to try at all, makes sense to me.

Nice shooting WT. Seems like that 338 is really coming together. I think you may be on to something with stacking the targets. The 338 Win Mag isn't a baby on the bench, getting it to shoot time groups requires alot of time on the trigger. That rifle will shoot. No doubt.
