Made my contribution..... 2026 Maybe not...!!!

in PA , I can Hunt coyotes with my regular hunting license , $20.97, during a big game season , "IF" I have an unused tag for this season / game animal . so to shoot a coyote during archery season , I need an Archery license , $16.97 . PA sells a furtakers license that is needed for hunting the other furbearer animals , and to hunt coyotes out of a big game season . the furtaker license , $20.97 is required for trapping anything . PA also has a Bobcat permit $6.97 , and a Fisher permit , $6.97 .these permits allow the trapper to keep one of each . these are Adult Resident prices .

June of 2027 I'll turn 65 years old . at 65 I can buy a lifetime "combo " license . I "THINK" this combo includes everything except Doe license , and Migratory bird . the Combo price is $101.97

PA just kind of nickel and dimes a hunter to gather up the licenses he wants .
Jim i got the lifetime combo at 64 because i would turn 65 during the license year.

I was involved with a contractor today to hav some work done on my house and the talk evolved into something interesting. I never knew that big game hunters from the USA are charged higher prices to hunt and higher trophy fees that Europeans.. WTF??? I didn't ask what the higher percentage cost was and although it saddens me, they can stick their safari where the sun don't shine and I won't lose any sleep over the situation.

I'll have to check on this . my birthday is June 27 . new licenses go on sale , I think , July 1 . maybe I can get my lifetime this year ??

EDIT to add ;

in your second post , the link , it says birthday before June 30 . so it looks like I'm eligible this year . thank you for pointing this out to me .

I have. I have worked in agriculture nearly all of my life. Believe me I have put in more than a mile in these boots.
I too have seen and lived around those "boots" most of my life, and I am talking about hunting or spending time with those same people. I have standing invitations... but I cant afford it , or those same folks do not feel the (direct, any way) benefit of my liscence $ investment. And I feel the state is spending the money, not always sure it is spent wisely. Conversely, I have no patience for "predation payments" from the state. We can help with that as hunters... dont make it so difficult for us to do it. Thats all I'm saying...CL

So a week or two ago I looked up what it would cost for me to get my "coyote license" (predator lisc.) back home for 2026. Price went up another ten bucks....okay....what hasn't. But then that's $75 to go home and carry a rifle with my cousin's. :eek: C'mon... So lets see, the state has a $5 bounty on Coons. That should be cheap right? After all they're gonna pay me to help take out those egg eating pheasant destroying rodents. Nope- that requires a permit to take furbearer. Thats several hundred dollars and an application process for a permit! (Unless I'm reading the confusing state regs wrong). Oh comon!!! Support my home state....yes but not stupidity. So sad. Feel like a man w/o a home. CL

I got an email from a game newspaper I subscribe to , that is about S.Dakota predator program . thought you might be interested in reading it .

it's a subscription for me to get this , so I'm not sure if you guys will be able to open it . let me know if it won't open , so I don't post any more of these articles .

Thanks for the update Jim. I had to read that three times before that started to make some sense.... some.... still. They didn't replace it. They just Neutered it. I Put on 500 miles going home for Easter. counted three coons and a coyote road kill. I guess the Ford is more efficient at predator control than my rifle any way. :mad: Hope the politicians all get there BMW's busted. CL
