For some training, needed a handgun to go BANG! loudly, but not send a projectile downrange at all.
Thought I'd try making some .45 ACP "blanks."
First attempt was just seating some CCI large pistol magnum primers in .45 ACP cases.
Took 'em inside, asked my wonderful wife to tell me if she thought it would be loud enough - then I moved well away to a hallway and torched off the .45....
GOOD GRIEF!
BANG!
Along with MUZZLE FLASH! Lit up the whole danged hallway.
My dog ran all over the house, sniffing, looking for a dead pheasant.
My wife asked ever so nicely "What the **** was that?"
Yeah, it's loud enough. Just in case you ever wondered. And no, don't point the danged handgun at anything important - bright, burning, "stuff" comes out of the barrel.
