I have been doing some load developement with my 25/300WSM and had moderate success with Accurate MagPro (65-67gr) using 110 Accubonds. I was able to get .75MOA using Winchester Large Rifle Magnum primers. I switched to CCI BR-2 primers and worked up to 66grs. getting .25MOA groups @ 200yds! Question is, should I worry about ignition issues with this combo, esecially in colder weather?

+1 to what Rick said. The Winchester WLR primer is a hot one and should give you good results.

JD338, I am questioning the use of the CCI BR2 in the WSM case. Where does one draw the line between magnum and non-magnum loads?
I always heard the Winchester's run hotter, but have never really seen a scientific comparison of primers and their relative "heat".

CCI benchrest primers are actually hotter then the standard primer.
I've used standard CCI 200's in my 270 at 40 below zero with no problems....
Personally, I would stick with the load shooting .25".

Great! That what I was hoping to hear. I was amazed at the difference one small component change can make. I'll be heading to the range with another 10 rounds to confirm that particular load.
Thx!

I've been a huge believer in the CCI BR primers. I'm with Antelope... I've used them in some pretty extreme cold temps out of my .280.

Attempted to use them however out of my .300RUM and CAN tell you that IS NOT enough primer for that type of powder charge.

Excellent, thanks! I may try the BR-2's in my 270WSM to see if I get similar results with Magpro and 140 AB's.

+2!!!!!!!!!!

I will never use cci in any rifle again.

I'm afraid I've soured on the CCI-BR2 too. I'm back to WLR, and am perfectly satisfied.

Primers are like any other component. you have to match them to the load. more specifically you have to match them to the powder. Ball powders take a hotter primer then stick powders....I use the full range of primers, everything from cci200 to fed215 depending on the application...
Primers are kind of the Rodney Dangerfield of reloading. They don't get the respect they deserve.
