Well, mama is away for a couple of months. She's visiting family back in the States. When she is gone, it is always time for me to experiment in the kitchen. Well, I think I found at least one new recipe tonight. I know it isn't game, but for you fellows living on the coast of British Columbia, Alaska, or along the Gulf Coast, this might work. Otherwise, you can buy some frozen shrimp. Now, I had to come up with a name, and since I had no recipe to work from, I get to name it whatever I want. So, I modestly named it after myself.

I sauteed a small onion, several cloves of garlic, a jalapeno cored and chopped fine and several asparagus spears in hazelnut oil and extra virgin olive oil. I seasoned with a bit of salt, some chipotle pepper, cumin and smoked paprika. When the onions were just becoming translucent, I added half a package of frozen shrimp, stirring frequently with a wooden paddle. I dropped the heat and let the mix heat through thoroughly. Served with a twice-baked three cheese potato and a glass of cold milk. Man, the explosion of flavour are simply out of this world. I'm still mellow some hours later. There was none left, and I had anticipated having some for lunch tomorrow. I suspect that this would be excellent with a mild fish such as basa or cod, as well.

Mike,

That sounds great!
I just happen to have a bag of frozen shrimp in the freezer.......

Boy DrMike,

I don't know how you can stand the wife being gone for 2 months. I can understand the feeling of freedom to cook what you want, when you want and as much as you want. But I start to miss my wife before she even leaves to go visit relatives. She was gone once for 3 weeks and I said never again....I pity your being without your wife for that length of time.

But enjoy your good eats.

Her father is quite aged and in ill health. Since she retired, she has decided she wants to spend as much time as possible with him. Her mother died a couple of years ago, so the sense of urgency is perhaps greater still. She has been compelled by my careers to live away from her family for over forty-five years, so it is a great opportunity for her. I really don't mind, as I busy myself in her absence with a variety of projects, among which is cooking, working on new dishes to present when she returns. Sometimes I manage to dazzle her with my culinary skills.

I can see that! Man, that sounds like a great meal Mike. Do you do that kinda cooking in bear camp?

I almost always keep a cold camp so there aren't a lot of odours wafting on the breeze. Afterwards, however, fresh bear ribs on the grill make for a delightful finish to the hunt.

It is fine fare, I tell you. I'll be making this again, for sure.
