Misfire

A true story just for laughs:

I accompanied my buddy on a once-in-a-lifetime New Brunswick moose hunt. He was using factory Winchester ammo. The ammo had nickel cases and black coated bullets. Very identifiable ammo. Early in the morning, as the fog was rising, we locate a good moose near the top of a clear-cut. He chambers a round as I get the camera rolling. The rifle is steadied, and he carefully squeezes off a round. CLICK! Everyone is surprised. He runs the bolt and gets another round in the chamber and BOOM. The bullet connects with the moose. The guide picks up the ejected cartridge and you can see the light hit on the primer. Then the guide asks my friend if he is shooting a .308. My buddy tells him no, "I'm shooting a 300WSM". Guess what, the first round was a .308 which was also the same Win ammo with a nickel case and black bullet. How that cartridge got into the box of 300WSM ammo, I'll never know but I don't think it came from Winchester that way. LOL
