Well I tried duracoat for the first time this weekend. It worked good on the barrel and action but would not stick to the synthetic stock :( So I went down to Ace hardware and picked up some krylon ultraflat camo paint and used it on the stock.Pretty happy with the results, will se how the paint holds up.

Looks cool man. Let us know how well she holds up. How did you do the pattern?

Typically the Krylon starts wearing first on the wrist or pistol grip of the stock. Any place there is high wear, it starts rubbing off. Fortunately, a fellow can simply spray on another coat! I generally repaint my Krylon rifle every year. Only takes a few minutes.

POP,

Duracoat sells Peel N'Spray templates.I got one with the kit I purchased. They would be real expencive just to buy the template. The one I got in the kit would be $70 ! :(
Now that I have tried Duracoat I won't be using it again, will just buy stainless rifles and leave them as is or paint them with Krylon.

You werent happy w/ the duracoat finish on the metal then? It loks really cool! CL

Cloverleaf,

Thanks man ! I am happy with the way the duracoat came out on the metal.I just don't think its worth the expence and hassle. It takes alot of prep and clean up because of the air brush. If you were going to do a number of rifles it would be much better. But for just one rifle ever now and then its just not worth it to ME.The krylon looks just as good, will help prevent corrosion and like Guy said is real easy to touch up.

I spray a coat of matte finish polyurethane on the krylon and it helps with the durability.Rick.
