Model 70 .375 H&H

The mystery is solved!

A phone call confirmed that the rifle was built in Arizona, by Michael Scherz, who has now moved his operation to Idaho. I learned quite a bit about the rifle during our phone call, including that it has a Douglas barrel, the walnut stock is tipped with Australian Leatherwood, and that it has made at least one trip to Africa, taking quite a few animals there.

Cool. Now I know. Also learned that I got the rifle for a really good price. Wow!

You were right: they are Talley rings according to his homepage. I am glad that you found out who he was. His work is very competent and well executed. I would be most pleased to have one of Mr. Scherz' rifles.

For SURE! Guy scored big on that rifle. A little jealous of it, but alot happy for him. That will be an incredible hunting rifle, for a long time I believe. It'll look very slick with a set of Talley's and a nice low powered scope on it.
