I was able to get out and shoot some more today. This time the rifle has the muzzle break... I must say it really works well. To me the rifle kicked more like a 270. I could have shot it all day. I only wear the orange foam ear plugs and they were just fine as fall as noise control.
I have a soft spot for partitions and had a box of 180 grainers so I thought that if I can get these to shoot, I would prefer to used them form my hunting load.
I loaded up 9 loads to shoot for groups. Using Norma Brass, Fed 215 primers, and Reloader 22. I loaded 3 @ 67, 3@68, and 3@69 grains - max per book.
As you can see from the pics - 67 produced a group just about an inch, 68 produced the best group I have had from this rifle at about .4-.5. And it didn't like 69 with a 1.5" group and high pressures.
Per the book, 68 grains should be right at about 3000 FPS, and with my tight chamber I have no doubt I am at least that fast. With accuracy like this - I am done working on my load work. 68 grains of R-22 with a 180 Partition is it for me!
