I was able to get out and shoot some more today. This time the rifle has the muzzle break... I must say it really works well. To me the rifle kicked more like a 270. I could have shot it all day. I only wear the orange foam ear plugs and they were just fine as fall as noise control.

I have a soft spot for partitions and had a box of 180 grainers so I thought that if I can get these to shoot, I would prefer to used them form my hunting load.

I loaded up 9 loads to shoot for groups. Using Norma Brass, Fed 215 primers, and Reloader 22. I loaded 3 @ 67, 3@68, and 3@69 grains - max per book.

As you can see from the pics - 67 produced a group just about an inch, 68 produced the best group I have had from this rifle at about .4-.5. And it didn't like 69 with a 1.5" group and high pressures.

Per the book, 68 grains should be right at about 3000 FPS, and with my tight chamber I have no doubt I am at least that fast. With accuracy like this - I am done working on my load work. 68 grains of R-22 with a 180 Partition is it for me!

Excellent workup. Yeah, loads like that are definitely pleasing. Good work.

Nicely done.
Reshoot the 68.9 gr load to verify.

In my time long time with the 300 WSM, I have found that load densities of about 95% work best for me. My rifles never liked compressed loads. As ho hum as they are W760, IMR 4350, and 4831 provided the best of velocity, pressure, and LD as well as giving me the accuracy wanted. My best results came from WW cases, CCI 250 primers and near book max of 760 with 150,168, and 180 gr BTs(love the green tips). Just my results, it looks like yours likes the case full.

My cousin shoots a 300wsm in a Tikka and his load is exactly 68grs.of RL22 using 180gr. Accubonds. I am not sure of the moa but knowing him it would be .5 or better.
I think that a lot of game are going to be pretty nervous when you are in the field. (y)

Blessings,
Dan
