I'm heading out early tomorrow with my buddy (BcBillies) and his friend from work for up to a week of goat hunting. The weather is looking very good for October in this area so we are pleased with that. I'm guessing we will take at least 2 billies and maybe even go 3 for 3, we hope to find BcBillies a giant but I'll be happy just to take one strictly for meat and not worry about horn size since I have taken a big one before. It will be tough but fun, and we will have at least 12 hours every night of darkness so we should catch up on our sleep :) I'll update this thread as things happen, the next month is prime time for goat hunting :)

Best of luck, Gerry. It should be a great hunt for you fellows. I'll definitely be looking forward to the pictures.

Best of luck! Should be a great hunt. I'm also looking forward to the photos!

Good luck.
Right now I can only dream of goat. I'd like the opportunity to take one someday. Keep us updated as best you can. I look forward to reading about this hunt.

Best of luck to you Gerry.
I hope all three of you score.
What rifle and load are you using on your hunt?

I was carrying my Rem 700 35 Whelen with 200 gr Accubonds @ 2840 fps with 57 gr IMR 8208.

The hunt isn't over I'm going back out later this week. I had some goats in my scope at 10 yards but passed, I didn't want to shoot a nanny and the decided to let the billy with her grow a little, will find him next year when he has some meat on his bones :) I had to come out but my partners are still out there I would be shocked if they didn't bag the mature billy we spotted at the top of a mountain. I'll update this thread later with more details and a bunch of pictures.

Best of luck to you and your buds.
Looking forward to hearing about the hunt details.
The 35 Whelen should do the trick for sure.

It is always a thrill to be eyeball-to-eyeball with the goats. It sounds pretty good so far, Gerry. I'll definitely be looking for the update.

Good luck Gerry. Sounds like goat meat should be on it's way once the Whelen speaks. That's a great load you have worked up.

The best of luck gerry, I hope that you have a great time. Remember have fun, shoot straight and most of all be safe.
gerry which rifle are you taking out?

PS. Lots of photos with a good story or two

Blessings,
Dan

I'm leaving for a deer hunting trip in a couple of hours, I'll update this when I come back. One billy was taken and many other goats seen, my buddy saw the big one he was looking for but it was in an inaccessible area. Goat hunting isn't done for the year however.......
