My Early Christmas Present :)

I bought one when they first came out. I have puched paper with it a carried it for varmits but no real kills. A very satisfactory rifle. Mike with your skills it will hummmmmmmmm. Congratulations.

Yes guys, it ought to be some fun. Getting a 30-06 most of the time to hum takes a little work, but that is also the fun.

Great article on the .30-06: http://www.24hourcampfire.com/newsletters/May_2009.html

I'd highly recommend the 165 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip and H4350.

Or Ramshot Hunter and the 180 of your choice. Partial to the 180 gr Nosler Partition myself.

Guy

Yes, the powders he mentioned have been mainstays except the Ramshot Hunter in all fourteen 06's and the RL-17 I find working well for me also. H4350 my standard load is 59gr with the 165gr bullets and 58.5 of IMR4350. I have used these to powders with 150 - 220gr bullets on hunts and tried the 240gr Woodliegh and have the same opinion as does John about it usefulness. Thank you Guy for the article, I enjoyed it and I also have killed more game with a 30-06 than any other cartridge in my hunting life. Here is a short article I wrote and certainly not as detailed or involved as Johns. http://ammoguide.com/?article=mhsp68/3006

I has one (imagine that) in a camo 30-06. Shot like a house afire!
