Here she is. I'm in love already. Just a couple of quick pics, I'll get more once the scope is mounted.

Trevor, right now, I don't like you at all!

That rifle is gorgeous! Man, that is a SCORE! You gotta tell us what caliber and such as well. Can't leave us hanging like that. You did really well with that rifle buddy, really well. Congratulations.

It is going to take awhile for the pain to subside, but I am pretty sure we can still be friends! Scotty

Thanks, Scotty. Sorry for leaving out the vital stats: Model 70 Super Grade in .270 Win.

Man, You might have a hard time reading the text of the book I just sent you buddy! JK- that rifle is awesome. You have truly done well buddy. Give us some details on planned scope and stuff. I bet you probably already have an idea of what you are wanting to load for it also! Scotty

Yup, it's a Winchester. Pretty skookum rifle, there. Then, it is a Winchester.

I can only imagine; that's sort of like a guy going on the first date of his life with the prom queen!

Congratulations, you made one hell of a pick. Those Super Grades are beauties.

Very good looking rifle, enjoy. You will enjoy the natural way it comes up, and you got a full sight picture. Stock shape is second to none, on a factory stick.

Nice rifle, and you seem to know your way around with a camera, too!

Thanks everyone. I mounted a 3-9 Conquest on it.

Here it is with some fellow Winchesters:

And here it is with what I have of the .30-06 family so far:

Scotty, I haven't really decided on what bullets to try out yet. I have a box of factory ammo to get started with. What I'm thinking of trying is 130 gr Ballistic Tips to start, then maybe trying some 130 Accubonds.

That is one beautiful rifle, a true American classic.
Very nice M88 you have there too.

Trevor I can't wait to hear how it shoots! 130 AB or PTs would be awesome and classic just like the rifle. Great pictures and collection of Winchesters! Scotty

Nice Rovert, great scope for that rifle as well. You can not beat the Model 70 SG and the Conquest combination, especially with nice looking wood like that. I hope that it shoots as good for you as it looks.

A classic rifle, and a dang fine looking one at that, in a classic cartridge requires a classic handload. 130 gr Nosler Partition pushed out of WW brass with H-4831 powder. Jack O'Connor would be smilling.

Thank you again, everyone. When I first held a Super Grade about a month ago, I knew I wanted one. The wood on the one I handled wasn't even as nice as this one. I immediately went home and started selling stuff.

Thanks to Tom (tddeangelo), I really looked around for one with a nice stock. He had looked at a variety of Super Grades and noted the wide variation in wood quality. When I asked at one of the local gun shops, they told me they returned the last three or four Super Grades that they got in because the wood wasn't what one would expect. Tom, who has the privilege of living in Cabela's front yard was keeping a look out there for me (thanks again, Tom). I ended up finding this one from a gun shop in TX before one turned up in Hamburg. Anyway, I'll pass on the good advice I was given - don't order a Super Grade without seeing it.

As far as bullets go, my first thought was the 130 Partition. My wallet, however, is feeling a little thin at the moment. I may still go that direction.

That is a beautiful rifle, in a classic cartridge. Am glad you topped it off with a quality scope - now the whole thing is just about perfect. Dang. Nice...

Congrats.

Rovert, I use the 130 Partition nearly exclusively for deer hunting when using my .270 Model 70 Super. I have been using it for deer since 1963. They are accurate and have never failed me for penetration and bullet expansion. One shot, one deer with the .270.

Trevor, there are some 130gr BT's on sale right now at SPS. Might be worth checking them out for 10.00 for 50. Keep your eyes peeled for PTs and AB's. Nosler is due to make a .277 run of the premiums soon. I have been watching for 150gr PT's myself for the 270WSM.

That rifle looks really good with the Conquest on top of it. What a great hunting rig. You did well waiting it out and finding one with excellent wood. I have to say I am more than a little jealous. I would like to have one really nice rig, and I think a Super Grade in 300WSM is pretty close to the top of the list. Scotty
