Should make great elk medicine up here in idaho's salmon river breaks country...Also hope to get over to Africa some time and she how she does. Shooting 260 nosler partitions right now.

I am contemplating selling the leupold and looking at a 1.5-6X42 s&b zenith, just hard to drop that much on optics, but at the the same time, its a small price to pay to be able to see an bull elk in dark thick timber 29 minutes after sunset.

Very nice buddy! That rifle looks all business to me! How does it shoot the PT's?

That should be a bull elks worst nightmare!

ITH,

Nice looking rig. That is a great elk hammer in the black timber.

Nice rifle!..If I had to buy one, that's the one 8) ...or a sako 85..congrats, enjoy...Lou

That looks very much like one of my rifles except for the scope. I have some unsolicited advice concerning the stock. I would bed the recoil lug and make sure the tang has a tiny amount of clearance before shooting a bunch of rounds through the rifle. My first Hawkeye African split the stock behind the tang due to wood compression behind the recoil lug. The rear of the tang acted like a wedge.

Superb cartridge. You have a dandy rifle there. I think you're on the right track with your thought on scoping the rifle.

Rice rig! I love my .375 Ruger and in my opinion the 260AB is THE bullet for it in N.America.

I love mine stuffed with 260 ABs and Big Game. Have taken two bull elk and my biggest buck with them. My stock plit at the tang (Ruger African). They are a hammer for sure!

Another Beauty- i understand why you want to change the scope- the S&B would be very nice on it !

Cheers RJ

Nice! If I can scare up one of the Alaskans with the 23" tube and laminate, I may pick one up. Should be quite the hammer of cervus elaphus! Because, you know, a .416 Rigby just isn't an elk gun! :)

This fall, since I'll probably be unemployed anyway, if you come out West, I can deliver it for a couple of days....

Well a Rigby may not be up to it but a half dozen elk or so and at least that many deer can attest to a .416 Rem. doing the job pretty readily.
