My wife is still under the weather and I'm trying to be quite. So I thought I show you my rifles. Here are some of them.

The bottom one in the first picture is a Model 70 Classic in .300 WSM, built by Chris Matthews of Long Shot Rifles. 4th barrel counting the factory one. There is a 2010 6.5-20 x 50 VXIII, that I got as a Warranty exhange from Leupold. It setting is a 20 MOA Seekins Base. Shoots the 190-210 Berger, better than I can.

The Tan one is a Model 70 Stealth, in .243 WSSM, with a Burris Black Diamond Mil Dot. The scope is setting on a 20MOA EGW base. I head shot a coyote at 626 yards, with a 95 gr. Combined Tech.

The next one up is a Model 70 Featherweight Classic, in .243 Win. I have had maybe a dozen of these rifles, in this setup. I get them tuned up and work up a load for them, then I give them to one of my Family members. This rife has a VXII 3-9 x 40, with a custom Turret to 500 yards.

The next one is a Model 70 Featherweight XTR, in .223. With a 5.56 Springfield Armory Scope on top. this rifle likes lite weight bullets, 45-50 grain.

The next one is a Model 70 featherweight XTR, in .270 Win. With a VXII 3-9 x 40 on top of it.

The top on in the first picture is a Model 70 Classic LT in 7mm STW, with a 5-20 x 50 Huskamaw scope setting in a 20 MOA base from EGW.

Then you see the Wifes Pug, Goober.

Then I got a couple Model 700's The bottom one is a Model 700 BDL in 8mm Rem Mag. It has a 3.5-10 x 50 VXIII in Weaver rinds and bases. It shoots the 200 grain bullet real well.

The next rifle is know as the 'Twin' it is a Model 700 trued and built by Chris Matthews of Long Shot Rifles. I have a Seals scope on it right now. It is shooting a 180 gr. Berger over H1000 to 1340 yards. That is all the elevation I have in the scope. This rifle has history, on Long Range Hunter.

That is a great looking arsenal, and not a bad looking pug (at least for the posterior two-thirds)! I am sorry to hear that your lady is still under the weather. Hopefully, she will shortly be feeling better. I do like the Winchesters, and it appears you have some fine cartridges. Tell me a little about Long Shot rifles. It seems as if you have used them some.

Chris used to work at GAP, a number of years ago. Then he decided to go out on his own. He builds a real accurate rifle. The 300 WSM has had several different twists, 1-12", 1-11.5", 1-10", and now 1-11.25". I have been experementing with it, over the years. In '90 when Winchester was thinking about the Short magnums, I had just got a Model 70 Classic in .308. I decided I want to rechamber it to 300 SAM, or WSM. Well the round shot everthing I fed it, as long as it was around 150-165 grain. But I have always been a weight in motion guy, so I wanted to shoot 180-200 grain stuff. So when the reamers were avaliable, I sent it in to be rebarreled in a 1-10". Well little did I know, but that twist spun it up too tight, and I had problems with that. So when money would allow, it got a 1-11.5", installed. That barrel threw a few thousand rounds down range, good. Then I met a fellow that knew Chris, so I called him to talk about the .300 WSM. He knew all about it, and had built several rifles in that caliber already. When I told him what bullet I wanted to shoot, he told me the twist. I'm about 1500 rounds down his tube.

That is a pretty positive commendation of Chris. I found his web site (http://www.longshotriflesllc.com/); it looks as if he is doing some great work. Your rifles would appear to verify that he knows how to maintain their appearance when he works on them and your recommendation is pretty good for him.

Good stuff Too Tall. You must be starting to feel better! Got this "thing" about Model 70's do you? You've got some nice ones there - I like the collection of Featherweights! I may have to explore that 11.25 twist when it's time to re-barrel my .300 WSM, although so far the 1:10 factory tube is doing pretty well.

I think this is an article on your "Twin", over at 6mmBR.com:

Ric Horst and I were all set to do a mountain muley hunt together back in '07, then things just didn't work out. I've talked with him, and with Chris Matthews both. Considered having Chris turn my .308 into a .300 WSM, but just could't do it. I like the lighter kicking cartridge too much.

Goober looks like he needs another snack...

Very awesome collection of Winchesters buddy! Man, it is pretty great to see them all laid out like that. I might have to try the same one of these days. Scotty

That'll do!

With regards to the classic Featherweight: need a new family member? I could use a Model 70 .243!

TT

Nice collection of rifles. That is a healty looking Pug too. We had a couple of them, great little dogs.

I have a brand new Classic Featherweight Stainless Steel, in .243 Win. that I've had for a few years. Then when I get enough money I will mounts a Silver Leupold on. Then I will give it to my Nephew, the Marine. He was in 'Harms Way' longer then 4 generation before him, 10-11 years total.

I imagine he will appreciate that 243 a whole bunch buddy! That would be one slick rifle. I have often thought of getting another 243 in preparation for when my son moves out. Being he is 13 right now, I am thinking I have a few more years though! Scotty

I have set up and delivered a Featherweight in .243 or 7mm08 to all my Nephews, Neices, and Son in Laws. Natural or married in. I enjoy watching them shoot something with my setup.

I've only found a couple .243 that would not shoot. Had them unscrewed and cleaned up, and screwed back together, and they came around.

Nice, sounds like your giving a gift that will last forever! Nothing wrong with a good 243. Pretty handy little cartridge for alot of uses. Scotty

TT,

That is a very thoughtful gift to your nephew. Congratulations to you for considering all your nieces and nephews.

TT, I see on several of your rifles you have that cheek piece/stock pack. How do you like it? I'm guessing pretty well, seems like you have several of them. I'm looking at getting one or two.

That is a dang nice collection of Winchesters for sure!
