She made one heck of a shot to get him too....345 yards, quartering away...she held 4" over his back, 4" into the wind....and sent a 130 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip through his liver and lungs...he dropped within 30 feet of being hit...not a monster buck, but a trophy all the same.

She shoots a 270...an older Remington 700.

The load is:
54 grains of H4350 under a 130 grain Ballistic Tip...its not a super fast load but it is very accurate in this rifle.

Congratulations to your lady; she made a very fine shot. You are correct that the shot qualifies the buck as a trophy.

Thanks fellas,

I'm proud as can be of her...she put in the range time this past year and has gotten quite good with that 270.

I just told her the drop and drift...she did the rest!

Congrats to you and your wife on a job well done. Yes indeed the hunt makes the trophy and not the animal.

Congrats to your wife! One heck of a shot. Sounds like she had a good spotter too! CL

Excellent .
There's only one "first" and that is always a trophy.
Bet you were more proud (sic?)than if you had made the shot yourself.

RR,

Congratulations to Mrs. RR on an awesome shot. That is a trophy buck
in my eyes.
