NCR 280

This is 4 shots with;
Nosler brass
Fed 215 primer
61 grs of RL-19
140gr Bt

The flier was due to operator error. I pulled my head off the gun in excitement to see a potential 4 leaf clover.
The grid is 1/2"

Nice job! Looks like a great load.
Try RL22 with the 140 gr AB. 63.0 grs should get you around 3200 fps.

I had some loaded at 63gr of rl-19 that flew over the chrony @ 3160
but the wind picked up substantially and my groups opened up to 1.5 "
I will have to give RL-22 a try
I have only tested RL-19 and IMR 4831.
I am thinking of using RL-22 with the 160 AB to come close to 3150fps but I don't know if I will make it.
Maybe the 150AB Nosler is talking about will be a good compromise.

old #7,

RL22 is the powder for the 280AI.
You can push the 160 gr AB to 3000 fps, maybe a bit more but you won't be able to get 3150 with safe pressures.
60.0 grs RL22 and the 160 gr AB is the magic load in my 280 AI.

JD338 I believe you based on your previous posts.
I will give rl-22 a shot with the 160 Ab as soon as I am done with the 140 and RL-19.
I also want to shoot some 120bt's. I bet they are smokin' fast 8)
There are too many loads and not enough time. Sometimes I wish could get paid to shoot but, then it would become a job instead of something that I do to unwind.

old #7,

Try these loads in your 280AI.

120 gr BT with RL19-

Old # 7, that's a beautiful rifle, wow!!! It looks like you have some great potential once you settle on your load.

I did not know Nosler was looking at a 150Acc. If that happens, I hope they enhance the BC as they did with the 270cal. 140Acc. If you look at Nosler info the 140gr. 277 has a higher BC than the 140BT, while in most cal. & weights the Acc. & BT show to be equal even though the Acc has thicker jackets and are long. If so the 150gr 7mm could have a very high BC & be an alternate choice to the 160 as an allround bullet for 7mm.

Beutiful rifle- I am officially jealous. Glad you were able to get it. Make memories with it and it will get prettier with t ime! CL
