Anyone have a Hornady load data book? I don't have one of those and I am looking for their max charges for the 303 British using their 174gr Round Nose Interlock to make comparison with the load work I am doing and I don't want to go past book max with my 303. Please, if you have their data PM me with the info, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am at present making a sporter out of one of my No. 1 Mark III's for hunting purposes in thick cover on hogs. I have not finished putting it together, but once I do I will show you all. It will be nothing special, because it will be for hard hunting in two different swamp that are close to me. Someone might ask ask why the 303? Because I like the 303 with open sights, and just love it on short shots out to 200yds with a 174gr RN bullet. Thank you Toast

Mike, thank you so much for the info, I am really looking forward to putting together the sporter version of my Mark III and getting my 174gr RN ready so I can do my load work. :) Things like this help my RADD

Sounds like you got your data. I can give you some info on this bullet that will really set your mind at ease. I've been using it for several years in my bushwhack carbine, a mosin Nagant M44 frankenstein chop job with a scope mounted I use as my heavy cover/foul weather/truck/camp gun. Ballistics of 762X54R are similar to your .303.

I routinely get around 1moa accuracy with the bullet seated at cannelure and a moderate crimp from the ugliest rifle in my arsenal. This bullet is a juggernaut on whitetails, penetrating straight with good but not excessive expansion at all shot angles even when heavy bone is hit. Plain and simple, it plows through, leaves a great blood trail and anchors em without blowing up the meat. Would use it on game up to moose without reservation provided moderate range. Happy hunting.

Thanks Polaris for the input, I was hoping for the very description you gave in performance. I am a firm believer that a good RN moving between 2200 and 2500fps is one bad boy indeed, it is the perfect speed for this type of bullet. Thanks, it does encourage me. :)

I might get a little more out of my rifle considering it has a 24 1/2" barrel on it. We will see and I should have my rifle together by Friday and the bullets and extra brass sometime next week. :)

Looking forward to hearing how it shoots Mike. I saw a sweet 303 in a Ruger #1 and passed it by. Kinda wished I would have snagged it, but I am sure another will come around someday!! Scotty
