Just bought a new cz527 in a hornet was hopping someone might have some load info. they might share .Also was wondering if the 40 nos bt. would stabilize in a 1 and 16 twist barrel? :?

I have a Ruger 77/22Hornet and tried the 40gr BTs but they were too long for the rotary mag box. I am currently using Win JHPs with lil'gun. Think my load is 12.6grs.Rick.

Rick thanks for the reply I have some lil gun powder will try it when I decide for sure which bullet I want to use .Did you shoot any of the 40 nos. BT. ?

I shot them and they did less than an inch at 100yds bur I had to load them singlely and I wanted it to be repeater from the magazine. So I changed to the Win bullet. I need to try the Sierra hornet bullet.Rick.

Pop whats your thoughts on the 40gr nos.Bt nosler manual says it won't stabilize with a 1 and 16 twist?

I disagree with taking the aforementioned as written in stone , at least from what I have seen in a buddy's CZ. He gets great velocity and accuracy from the 40 gr (BT Sierra and V-maxes using Lil gun). Might be an exception but I have witnessed it.

I have had good luck with 40 gr Nos BT's and H110 powder. I shoot hundred's of european hares and foxes at my hunting lodge in Uruguay every year. Sorry, I can't remember the powder charge as I am in Uruguay and the reloading book is at my house in VA. I shoot a single shot encore with a 3x9 Leupold Vari II scope. This combo works for me.

Welcome to the forum! Pictures are a must! Glad to have you aboard! Scotty

Thanks for the welcome Scotty.

I forgot to mention something. A buddy that has been loading 22 Hornets for years told me to use small pistol primers. Its the only primer I have ever used for a hornet. My loads of H110 pushing every bullet from 35-45 grain are plenty accurate for my needs. Why H110,,, I am a cheapskate and had several pounds that I use to load super sonic 300 whisper rounds with. It worked and I have never tried a different powder for the hornet or super sonic 300 whisper.

are all hornets a 1 in 16? or just the cz?
I have buckets full of 50gr tnt's that I thought might work good for a hornet, but maybe they'll be too long..... hmmmmm now what to do..... maybe I need to find me a tripple duece!!!

Pretty sure my encore 22 hornet is 1 in 12 twist. A buddy at my shooting club in Paraguay bugs me to bring him the heavier .223 caliber bullets that he uses both in his .223 rem and 22 hornet reloads. He shoots pretty good with the 50's and 55's and even 60's but the lighter bullets do better in a hornet. Since I only shoot small varmits with mine, I'll stck with the 35-45 gr bullets.

Have found a load that shows to be going to work really well ,its 12.2 grs. of lil gun with a 50 hornady sx bullet with a cci small pistol primer .Don't no what it is about the small pistol primer but using them reduced my groups by a 1/4 inch or more .

My Ruger likes 11.9 gr h110 and 35 gr v max rem 6.5 primers thats good for 5 shots around an inch @ 100 yards the 40s never shot good.
