I just picked up a new Browning BPS in 16 ga. It's a very nice 7 lb. gun, done properly on a small frame.

It's going to suck being a pheasant or chukar this year.

Congrats on the new 16! I grew up using a Browning 16 auto. Love that gun. Spent a lot time with ducks, pheasants, grouse, and prairie chickens. It's a great compromise between the 12's and 20's.

edh,

COngrats on your 16 ga. have never owned a 16 but my father in law and a couple. I used his a few times hunting partridge. The 16 ga is a sweetheart for birds.

Glad to hear you got a 16 gauge. I grew up shooting 16 gauge guns for dove, rabbit, quail and wood ducks. I think it is the best gauge ever manufactured. I hated to see the gun companies phase them out. We could get 16 gauge shells loaded to the lower 12 gauge range. The guns handled excellently and they were very effective. I still have my fathers Remington model 11 in 16 gauge. I had a Savage and my 2 uncles had many 16 gauge guns that they hunted with . All were semi autos. They shot doves several afternoons each week during the season. A group of 4 or 5 would each fix a dove field and we would rotate from one field to the other during the week. We had a hardware operator friend who would order our shells by the case at cost for us .......The good old hunting days ....... I think you will be happy with the 16.

I have got a Browning Sweet sixteen made in the 60s that still sees action time to time . I would take it more if I wasn't afraid I would trash it on some briars or barb wire or something where I hunt .

My dream shotgun is a properly engraved, case colored reciever, 16 ga, double barrel, side by side. Congratulations

Got one. I picked up a Remington 870 Wingmaster in 28 ga a couple of years ago. I added the sporting clays recoil pad and extended chokes from the 1100 clays gun. It's a keeper. High on my "someday" list is one of the higher grade Beretta O/Us in 28 gauge.

I also have a Citori in 16 ga, so a Sweet Sixteen Auto 5 is on my list too, just to complete the set.
