I am looking into getting a new 270 WSM, i am wanting to know what is the best brand to go with, i have been looking at Tikka, Savage and Winchester, of those 3 which one is the best for hunting deer with.

...probably get "tarred & feathered", but comparing features/ price, I'd go w/ the Tikka. To get the same or comparable features, you're going to spend a lot more for a Winchester. The Mod. 70 has a 3 position safety, but the base T3 has a removable straight feed mag, a real "benny" when feeding short, fat cartridges, a 60* bolt throw, which I happen to like, weighs considerably less, & has an "accuracy guarantee" that none of the Tikkas I've shot so far have had any problem meeting. If you're willing to put out the money for a higher "Grade" rifle then the Mod.70 (or Browning A-Bolt or Sako A7    ) is the way to go...

{P.S.- you'll notice Remington was not mentioned anywhere above... :mrgreen: :twisted: :lol: }

Thanks, and yes i would never buy a Remington, they are a POS, i already own a Tikka in 300 WSM, so i am really leaning that way anyway. Thanks

I had a .300WSM in the Tikka T3 stainless. Very nice rifle for the cash, I'd also look hard at Weatherby's new S2 in the Vanguard line (or the older model as well) for moderately priced 270WSMs.

Hate Savages, Remingtons don't turn me on and Winchester are very nice but $$$.

I've shot all three. They are well made and tend to deliver the goods. You won't go wrong with any of these.

I like the M70. Just a nice rifle, but heck any of the ones you mentioned are nice. I have a M70 270WSM and would not trade it for ANYTHING! Scotty

I bought one in an x bolt but now am wondering if I should have gone with a model 70, I think the model 70 action and safety is much better than the browning. I like the lines of the x bolt and really liked the Dura touch finish on the stock, but the action is notchy and the tang safety is not as positive or safe as the 3 position, I find myself accidentally knocking it on fire without noticing.

Hey now, I might have to be offended by that (laughin').

If/when I get a .270 Wizzum, it'll probably be either a Model 70, or a Howa/Vanguard.

TIKKA hands down IMO.

I have 2, my wife took over the first so I go another for me that same year (2004) T3 LS models. Loves 140gr Accubonds.

Looking at buying a mint Sako m75s 270WSM for myelf to add to my collection of Sako m75 rifles and sell the one Tikka to my father-in-law.

Since you already have a Tikka in a 300 WSM and if you have good experiences with it, then go with another in 270 WSM.

Setting their reputation for very good accuracy aside, I`ve never been a fan of detachable magazines nor have I been a fan of Tikkas smaller ejection opening.

Prefer a nice and large and unobstructed receiver opening for better access and a top feeder.

Of your 3 choices, I`d pick either the Winchester or a Wby Vanguard S2.

If you are right handed I would look at the model 70 or the Sako
But you really can't go wrong with any one of them.

Blessings,
Dan

Out-of -the-box accuracy makes me lean towards the Tikka. The triggers are great without having to mess around with them. I don't like the smaller ejection port either, but have never had a problem with my 25-06 ejecting any rounds.

That being said...get the Winchester  .

Now, that's what I like, Joel--a straight forward way of straddling the fence. However, I agree with you. My heart leads me to say, "Get a Winchester."
