Just received my new Hornaday manual today  - It's got all the new recently released powder/load data. The new pwders included are 8208XBR,4007ssc,W780,Hybrid 100v,superformance and leverevolutin. Since I mostly shoot Noslers I'll have to cross reference the data till Nosler comes out with theirs. I wonder how hard it'll be to get some of the new powders?

muleman,

I'm still waiting on my copy. The Superformance and Leverevolution are supposed to be available shortly (mid January, 2011 according to the Hodgdon web site http://hodgdon.com/rifle.html). Hodgdon is listing loads on their web site. For Superformance, it is listed as "superform." The Leverevolution is listed as "LVR."

Cool how is the data with the 325 wsm ?

Superformance and Leverevolution are in stock at Grafs and Sons. http://www.grafs.com/

I don't get it. The superperformance is supposed to be about like reloader 22 for burn rate. I called hodgdon and they said that it wouldn't work in 25-06. What don't I get?

While the burn rate may be similar, the pressure curve generated is perhaps extended, creating a dangerous situation with the lighter bullets used in the 25-06. Or it may be as simple as Hodgdon hasn't tested it yet in that particular cartridge.

Man, I need to get on the ball and get my copy! I love new manuals! Scotty

BINGO!

I load the 270win 35 whelen 358win and 35rem so the V-100 and LVR seem to warrent a try. They list LVR with the 35rem and 338fed so it should be a good 358win powder too (???). While a V-100 and a AB or PT 140gr could be the new standard 270 load, well if it shoots straight and tite.

One of my favorite powders in the 25-06, .270 Win., .280 Rem. and .300 Win. mag. is the now long discontinued Winchester WMR. it works so well in all those cartridges based on the 30-06 case, yet will not work in the 30-06 at all. The only data I find is for 200 and 220 gr. bullts and even those are punk.
Probably as you mentioned, a pressure ccurve situation. The powder works quite well in the .243, 6MM Rem., .257 Robt. as well as the ones mentioned and I have moe than a lifetime supply. I'll just have to use something else in the good old 06.

Paul,

WMR works very well in the 280, as does WXR. I still have about five pounds of each to work with. WXR works very well in the 300 WSM, also.

I got the Hornady 8th reloading book for Christmas, it has pretty good info in there. Not much superformance powder load data, very little.Kind of disappointing that they did not list the powder.

Try the Hodgdon 2011 manual it just came out as well. It has the new superformace powder listed and has a good article about it as well! I've got a pound ordered - for a 300wsm it lists 150 gr (AccuBond?) at 3410fps with 24" tube  . If I can get speed like that I'll skip the 270wsm and try something intersting like a .257 Roberts AI or maybe a .375 Ruger for a plinker  . I like it when my money can go farther!

Wow, that is really trucking for a WSM! Your right to skip the 270WSM! Mine will only do about 3150 with a 150 and I thought that was great. Wonder how the Superformance powder would work for the 270WSM though. That is my question. I guess it is time to update loading manuals. Scotty
