New LR Toy.... Update...

I bought this one thinking if the throat was toasty... I'd just punch it into a Mash.... or more appropriately a straight 7/.300 Win.

May have to go with a STW to get it to clean up much of the throat. Most people set back a inch or more to clean up throats. With most Remington's that's impossible because the "flat" barely exists.

I'd rather put a new tube on it than go STW....

Not too worried about the throat... OAL to the lands is within .005" of my other 7RM.

The pipe looks pretty good. The action has also been touched up, and it has a nice aftermarket follower..... the more I play with this rifle, the more I can see the love/abuse it got over its previous life.

I just popped her out of the bedding and cleaned it all up.... couple air bubbles, but only cosmetic. It's my rifle, so I'll live with it. Ill give it another day to cure up hard.... then off to the races.

Finally got out to do a little shooting with the Sendero.... this was the second load I tried:

162 Amax/72 gr. Retumbo/WLRM/RP hulls:

Shot the first three.... then ran a fourth into the group just to be sure, the four shots go .375. Then I took the 5th (and last) round, ranged a large ant hill a 607, dialed the Leupold to the '6' on the turret, and dusted me an anthill. Hit about 6" higher than I thought.... they're a little quicker than my RE22 load that clocks 3k.

Stopped to grab a picture on the way out..... that's Long's Peak you can see in the background.... about 100 miles away.
