I'd love a 7x57 in a featherweight! You could also have it rechambered in 280AI since that gun has a long action and a 26" barrel it would be ready to go.......Just thinking......

You'd desecrate this fine piece of art? Scott! Arrrrrrgh!

Mike,
I thought the 280AI was sacred around here???? I think the Featherweight in 7x57 would be a classic to own. In that caliber I'd like to see a shorter barrel though.

I'm yanking your chain, Scott. Were I building it, I would go with a shorter barrel. However, since I'm thinking of buying one of these, I'll likely keep it like it arrives.

What does a QL look like with a 26" barrel and 160's Mike, loaded to proper pressures for the action?

Impressive 2900 at 60K. It's definately on the list besides my 6.5 Mauser needs company!!

Yeah, it'll work really well. I think a 160 at around 2750-2800 would be very sweet, and easy on the shooter too!

I think a 160 gr 7mm bullet at 2800 fps would be one hand's down killer of a medium game round! Sort of like the 180 gr .30-06.

Without a DOUBT Charlie. I know really like that long necked little devil. I kinda want one of them FWT's for myself now!

That is why I like this case better than the T-54 (.308). It has not only 7% more powder capacity but also has that lovely long neck! My .257 Roberts has pointed that out to me!

I'm going to have the barrel cut down & recrowned on mine. 26" on a featherweight makes no sense whatsoever. I'll go 22" or 23". I doubt they'll even be available before fall hunting season this year, but at least they are making them!

I'm going to order some Talley's rings and a Leupold 6x36. I have zero .284 Partitions nor brass on hand, so need to get those ordered also.

That sounds like it'll make a great set up. The 22" tube on my little Featherweight seems pretty handy.

Your only gaining 4 oz in weight. I think mine will be left as is.

I hope you are able to grab one Jake. That would be one sweet rifle. I can't see a 26" barrel being too much really. My 264 has a 26" barrel and my 338 has a 25" barrel. Neither of them seem bad at all.

I am not disturbed by 26 inch barrels, especially if the rifle is not for tugging through the bush.
