The still have not learned that these need a 26" barrel though.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm pleased to see them offered, but a 26 inch tube would have been nice.

Honestly Doc:
I can not see the 264 in a FTWT. A true FTWT requires (in my mind) a 22" tube.
They tried that in the past and it became an expensive, hard to shoot, awfully obnoxious due to noise, inefficient 270 Win

Good points, Fotis. I am pleased with the 257 Bob in a FWT, however.

Whole different animal Doc. I agree, as I would with a 260 7mm-08 etc.

The ultimate shadow model also with a 26" barrel. If it was stainless I would probably buy one and drop in a mcmillan edge stock.

I really like my Model 70 Sporter 264. I wouldn't be scared of a 24" barreled 264. It would still eat a 270 Win for lunch.. I think the Sporter is a nice one though. They are some fun shooting rifles as well. With the new 140 BT it really makes long range practice alot of fun ringing the steel.

My 25" 264 has no problem getting 3050fps from a 140gr AccuBond. It's best groups have come at 3000fps though. I know more speed is possible but I never found good accuracy with RL22, Retumbo, or any of the other powders that show more speed. My rifle has proven to be picky but shoots real well with 60gr of H4831 and the 140gr AccuBond. I'm still experimenting with the Berger VLD but haven't had great results yet. I like the added BC of the Berger since this is my long range gun, but the performance of the AccuBond has been flawless and my barrel life should be good with that load. I'm taking the 264 to Wyoming for antelope this fall, the 140gr AB should be plenty at any angle I need to shoot at.

Man, 264's and antelope go hand in hand! I would like to get mine out in the open plains someday.

Yeah, Scotty, I would have a hard time choosing between a .264 (when I buy one) and my .257 for 'lopes. I guess it would just be a matter of if I want a classic wood and blue rifle, or an SS McSwirley rifle that day.

Once you start to shoot a 264 a little, they seem to really grow on you. I know mine has. I think it'll be my open country deer rifle this year. I would love to have some hunting time with it, now that I have the loads worked out.

My buddy just ordered an Ultimate Shadow in 264...I've never messed with that round any, but always admired its numbers (ballistics)
