Hi All.

I have been reloading for a few years now. Not a pro at it or anything, but I think I have my 300 WM dialed in with the Barnes (sorry) I have in it.

I recently purchased a Savage Model 10 in .308 (See Avatar)

It is more of a target rifle than anything. I have just made up some rounds for ladder testing with it. They consist of Nosler Brass, Nosler Custom Comps 168 gr, CCI Large Rifle primers, and 42-46 grains of Varget in .5 grain increments. Can't wait to get out to the range with it.

My buddy is slowly converting me over to the Nosler Kool Aid and have considered it with the 300, but honestly one of the things keeping me from doing this (at this point) is a lack of Powder in the area. (BC). There is powder but not enough for me to start changing/testing loads etc.

Cheers, and thanks in advance for answering my future questions.

Welcome aboard!

The .308 Win, 168's, and Varget go together real well... If the groups aren't quite as tight as you'd like, consider using a match primer (though I've never had any problem with standard CCI primers).

The Barnes bullet is likely a fine choice for your .300 WM. Most of us seem to prefer our Noslers, but there are many good bullets available these days.

Regards, Guy

Welcome.

I have a few things to say about this site.
1) the members are great
2) you will learn if you read/listen
3) you will spend money (people have a way here to help you all the time)
4) you will get better groups if you listen
5) the members are great

Don't worry about shooting non-Nosler bullets and products. The goal here is for all to enjoy and see what others are doing. Good luck with your loads and keep your eyes on the Shooters Pro Shop for deals.

Welcome aboard... I am new also.. This is the most civilized and helpful group that I have come across and enjoy checking in frequently to see what is going on. My pet load for my 30-06 is 180 grain accubonds with Reloder 22 powder. If you can find some Reloder 22 it may be worth a try. Good Luck.

Welcome to the forum, Osprey. I'm with you on not changing up any loads or doing additional work that's somewhat redundant in this climate. Hopefully powder stocks will become more normalized over the next few months. Of course, election years have a way of heating up the demand. Don't be surprised if this continues for a long while.

Welcome aboard. Let us know if we can help in any way.

Feel free to discuss ANY make product. This is how we have ran the forum since inception.

Welcome aboard, Osprey. Nothing wrong with Barnes Bullets; they are a good product. Many of us shoot them, or at least have used them. Few people here discriminate against the other fine bullets that are available to the hand loader today; all have their place to ensure enjoyment in the sport of shooting/hunting. Where in BC do you live? There are a few from the province hanging out here. Again, welcome aboard.

Welcome Osprey.
As a relative newcomer here myself I can honestly say this is the best reloading, hunting, and overall general information forum out there on the net related to our common interest. It's fairly small and has a cracker barrel feel to it.

Welcome aboard Osprey, we are always glad that another Canuck has joined up. I think that you are really going to enjoy this group of people as they are very knowledgeable and a lot of fun as well.
Varget & the 308win go together like peanut butter & jam .
Now if you were to shoot left handed it would be another bonus .

Blessings,
Dan

Welcome Osprey
I don't know about Cracker Barrel I get indigestion when I have ate there and tend to find some place else.

Another Canadian eh! The folks I have ever met from Canada have all be super people!! Some of our best friends recently moved back to Canada. They came to us from near Lethbridge via Texas quite a few years back. Now they are back in Alberta in a town called St. Paul in the northern reaches of the province. This is a great site! Welcome

Osprey,

Welcome to the forum, glad you are here.
There is a wealth of knowledge here to be tapped, just let us know what we can do to help.

Enjoy.

St. Paul isn't far from here, David. You need to come up for a visit.

Thanks guys, seems like a great site so far!

Ha! Wait until Scotty and Jake get you hooked on buying a new rifle. That's when the gloves come off.

I can't. I've got 4 expensive hobbies. I just bought a new rifle that should do me for awhile. Between Nosler06 and myself, I think it's bad enough with "maybe I should get this or that".

Osprey we know 1 of your expensive hobbies :) I hope that I am not being too personal but what are the other 3 ?

Blessings,
Dan

Welcome 78 to a great forum and a great bunch of people. Even with 4 hobbies, after a while here looking at all of the goodies, you surely need one or two more!!!!

Welcome Osprey,

You won't find a nicer or more helpful bunch of guys than this site. Its almost like a great hunting camp.
