How many of you predator hunt at night?
Here in MI, night time calling is restricted to either a rim fire rifle or shotgun.
For night time hunting, I use a Remington 11-87 Super Mag 3.5" 12 ga with a Pure Gold .670" Turkey choke loaded with Dead Coyote Heavy Shot loads. I have a tactical mount that sits under the barrel and holds a Sure Fire G2 flash light with a home made red lens. Those coyote eyes look like brake lights.
This year I am going to try it with the red dot scope.

What are you fellas using?

That'll definitely flatten a coyote, Jim. No nighttime hunting allowed in BC, however.

Jim -
You need to get some snow in Mi, so you don't need those lights :p. I do most of my yote hunting in the winter, so they show up fairly well even on an overcast nights. One of us will sit with a shotgun and one with a rifle if I am with a partner and we are calling from a set at night. It is legal to hunt them at night here in Minnesota. I talked to a friend in the Kalamazoo area about what he uses, which is a 22 mag.

I am another that grew up hunting foxes, bobcats, coyotes and coons at night. Old man carried a 12ga and I carried my 22 mag. Now it is legal for centerfires, so I use the 22-250 and still the 12ga, but mine is just about like Jim's, with wood stocks though! Scotty

JD -

Night time yote hunting is without a doubt one of my most favorite things there is to do. However -
We've been lucky with private land to hunt - the DOW requires a permit be gained for this "pleasure" if you will,
but our vast expanses here allow for a lot of driving while using the light.

The ole 22-250 with 12X Leupy works great with 1 or 1.5 mill candle power.

Good luck - that set-up looks like it'll get-er done

Here are my two predator guns. Scotty

POP,
Both rifles are Duracoated since they are both Rem 700 SPS. The finish on the SPS line is so bad someone from Big Green should be kicked right in the @%#!

Scotty,
Get out of that Evil place called NORVA and you can shoot them!

Rgr that Sarge! I am pretty sure I will be knocking on your door a few days after Christmas. I am ready to hunt, by I gotta get through the Holidays! Plus, I am hoping to get a working load for the 25-06 so I can blast some coyotes out of their skin! Mark has been kind enough to hook me up with 100gr BT's, so I may give them a whirl. I imagine they are going to be nasty on whatever they connect with!. Scotty

Should have snow on the ground after Xmas and have just the place to go yote hunting! One of the guys from the hunting club had yotes all around him today calling to each other.

Man, thats great! Hope we have some fresh snow. That will be a blast. The caller is charged up and hopefully the 22-250 will be ready to hunt in a day or two. Got the BZO rounds loaded, so it should only take me a little bit to get a good 300 yard zero on it. Scotty

used to have a 10/22mag that was my nighttime predator gun. Killed a lot of critters with that gun. Predator calling is just to hard pu here in alaska so I havne't been doing it for a a while. Those dead coyote shells out of a patternmaster are also very good coyote killers out to 60 yards.

You are right, Dead Coyote load flattens coyotes.
