hey fellas,

I got my box of Nosler custom brass yesterday and i am going to share a little on it. The 50 count box i bought for my 300 RUM averaged 283.4 grains had a high of 284 grains a low of 282.7 with a max spread of 1.3 grains (not bad). I have seen way worse from other manufactures but generally expected better considering they were weight sorted . The brass arrived as advertised and was ready to load. The case prep they did looks good, it is consistent in appearance and the work appeared consistent throughout the box. I weighed all 50 cases and really would like to have seen a pattern develop but really the weight was pretty much all over the place between 283-284 grains. I wish i had the equipment to check the run out on it . None of the cases were damaged at all and they were shiny and clean. Again this brass looks great but considering the price and the sorting that was predone i think it should have been a little more even in weight . I weigh and separate all my brass so i do know how much work is involved and all how many bins you have to have to just separate 100 pcs. I am curious how well this brass will do in my 300 but i expect well because i get great results with lesser brass.

I think a 1.3g spread in something as big as a RUM case is not going to be very noticable. I"ve never weight sorted brass or bullets even when doing 600-1K shooting. Never seemed to make much difference for me when a good load was worked up.

Your right about the price of nosler brass, its kinda spendy for what ya get IMO...

Was looking at some 243 brass and when looking at some lapua 243 brass, its the same price. Id go with the lapua stuff anyday.

I think its probly a good thing you dont have means to check the consistency of your 300 RUM brass either. A few very reputable fellas I know HAVE NOT been happy with the quality or consistency of 300 RUM brass. Thats why I continue to use the Remington stuff for my 338 EDGE.

Anyways, good luck with your 300 RUM.

yep, rems right check the neck thickness, don't push it hard, it has tender pockets also from my experience.

Can't say I have ever weight sorted any of my brass either. I will make sure however that I'm not mixing different Mfg's when loading however.

I've had good luck so far with the .260 brass - I have some .280 & .300RUM that I have yet to load.
I'll load the .300 this week or next.
