Thought I would post a picture of my success for the year. My Nosler hat being worn in support of the 180 grain AccuBond fired out of my .300 Winchester Magnum.

About 40-50 yards through that crap she died in.

Very nice, congratulations!
Looks like some fine eating this winter.

Cograts bud! Give us the skinny on the bullet performance.

Bullet performed flawlessly. Punched her behind the right shoulder, exited out behind the left shoulder (you can see the exit if you look real hard). Bullet made goo out of everything in between and made a nice quarter sized exit. Looks like the bullet did exactly what Nosler advertised it to do.

You're right...Nosler's Rock!

Is your rifle a nice Remington XCR or SPS in stainless? Just bought a new SPS Stainless in 30-06 for my son's completion of Eagle Scout requirements and plan on using the 180-gr. AccuBond for everything.

147grain,

The rifle is a Browning A-Bolt II Stainless Stalker topped with a Bushnell Elite 4200 2.5 - 10 x 50mm.

Great job 300Winnie on your fat cow elk. Yes 180gr Accubonds ROCK in the 300WM. Thats all I shoot in my 300WM and my 270WSM (140's)

Here is a pic of my buddy's cow elk from sunday morning shooting a Sako m75 SS 300WM with 180gr Partition Golds. He is on his last bit of shells in the PG and we will start reloads with 180gr AB for next year.

Same type of shot, 1 behind LF shoulder -smashed ribs clipped top of heart, took out lungs but had a small exit wound. The bullet must of exploded or it was rib fragments b/c the LF shoulder was almost toast and he didnt hit the shoulder. Never had this happen before with a PG b/c thats all we shot before the Accubonds come out-just got tired of the soft points squaring off. Anyhow we have some good eats also.

Congratulations on your buddies hunt. Nice looking cow, and nice looking set up to shoot them with.

I would like about that much elk meat in the freezer. Hey, how about we trade you some of our wolves for some of your elk?

Long

No, thanks. We already have too many wolves. Those of us that live in Idaho are going to see the hay day of elk hunting quickly go away on account of those pieces of crap. I just saw an update on the numbers in the tri-state area of the "recovery area"...over 1,200 animals. Good thing they only eat the old an sick that need culled from the herd...B.S.

300Winnie,
I too am from Idaho Falls. I'm currently stationed at Vandenberg AFB, CA. Had an excellent cow elk hunt in unit 69 this year. As for the wolves, I prefer the triple S concept: SHOOT, SHOVEL, SHUT-UP ABOUT IT.

Richracer1,

It is always nice to hear from someone from home. First of all, let me say thank you for serving in the military. I have a deep respect for those that protect the freedoms I enjoy every day...like hunting :p

I am glad to hear you had success in 69. I wasn't too far from that unit when I let the air out of the cow elk that started this thread.

My vote is for the new acronym GSS.

Gut shoot, shut up.
