Nosler Accubond strikes again

Well, my 300Rummie finally lost it's cherry tonight. I've been packing it around Vandenberg AFB in search of hogs. It finally happened tonight, 31 Dec. I was walking back to my truck and spooked the largest hog I've ever shot. Unfortunately, my abilities of shooting at running targets is nonexistent, so my first bullet went in to the hind leg. Being a quick learner, I was able judge the lead a little better and was able to place a second shot right behind his shoulder which dropped him. Dressed, he weighed in at 172lbs. The load was 180AB with 98.5gn of Retumbo to propel it. The hog was about fifty yards away. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

I've been a little nervous about shooting this thing, being does kick a little more than I'm use to, but in the heat of it, I barely heard the report let alone felt the recoil. I definitely heard the infamous whaaap of the bullet hitting the animal.

Here is a pic of my hog. Sorry, being that I typically hunt alone here and I seem to run into the hogs right around the end of shooting light, I don't pack a camera with me. Anyway here he is strung up getting ready to loose his skin.

172lbs dressed boar hog.
