Love seeing the Long range AB's and I see they improve on the classic 270win with the 150gr LRAB. Its not a 130gr BT or even the great 140gr AB but the proper weight needed for flatter trajectories at longer ranges.

Not the fastest out of the gate or most likely the flattest shooting under 250-300 yards but it retains its energy better and proves flatter in the long run.

I think loaded to around 2850-2900 out of your 270 is a complete sleeper of a round. The ABLR will easily get to 2850. If you get a chance, run the numbers, it carries the energy really well and from what I can tell, they are very accurate as well.

I suspect you could, with the right powder and a 24" barrel, get close to 3k out of the 150 ABLR, from a 270Win. That's a sleeper for sure!

Easily Dub. The ABLR run's pretty slick. I am pretty sure with the right combo, I could safely get close to 3200 from the WSM. I am running RL25 and 3150 without drama in my 24" tube. I am very sure a 270 would get 3000 with a 24" tube, again, with the right combo of slow powders.

I am anxious to see the new update on QL. The bullet seems well built for speed.

I am actually surprised you haven't tried them in your Wby yet. Fotis knocked down 3300 without drama, and the bullets holds up very well. I think it is going to be a good hunting bullet. Hoping to hear of more kills as the year goes on. From what others are saying though, it is doing really well.

I'm entirely happy with the E-Tip in my 'bees, Scotty. Having seen shots from up close to far away at velocities ranging from 2800-3400fps give identical performance, I just don't have much to change my mind. Trajectory and energy are virtually identical at my personally imposed 500yd limit on game under ideal conditions. If I ever decided to try to stretch that, I might consider the ABLR but for now, the E-Tip is my bullet of choice.

Now, want the best of all possible worlds for me? How about the boys in Bend turning out a 140-150gr E-Tip LR with a .600+ BC...

I know guys who are running 150's at 3,000 fps from their .270 Win rifles. The load has been working for them for a long time. Likely above most (or all) loading manuals, but they're doing it decade after decade and using those .270's on mule deer, black bear & elk here in Washington. It's really not far behind the 7mm Rem mag...

Swap out the present bullets with the long-range bullets.... Well, it can only get better.

You aren't kidding Jim. I was thinking a few of them old 270's should be coming out of the closet now. Really would be a great muley rig, fairly easy on barrels, easy on the shooter.. I can't see how it isn't going to be a winner. I will probably carry my old 270WSM loaded up with the 150's this Fall, hoping to get a shot into a deer..

Yes, well said, and not much it will not dispatch quickly and cleanly. The ABLR would truly bring the 270win a live indeed!

My 24" 270 win was shootin 3180 with 66.5gr of magnum. No pressure signs. I believe that the reduced bearing surface has alot to do with high speeds and low pressure. Ran too low on magnum so I had to cut back to 64gr due to the accuracy was unbeatable. At this charge. 66.5 left me a hair over moa. Where as 64 left me about about .5". And with hunting season weeks away and powder LOW that was a perfect stopping point. Velocity is at about 3050 avg. Hoping to put one in a nice bull this year.

Magnum certainly looks to be a great 270 Win powder, good thing I still have some to try out :) Great load and shooting.

I could still load more behind it but it becomes some compressed that it pushes the bullet back out to a longer col. So it's not worth it IMHO to seat and crimp just to see how fast it will go. 3050 with that bullet shows some astronomical numbers for the old 270 win

Go figure! I've got all of our .270 Winnies shooting the 140 ABs under MOA with a ton of dope for shooting long and now it's back to the drawing board....err loading table that is. Guess it gives me an excuse with the wife to shoot just a little bit more now (wink). Too bad the only .270 that's here in WA with me is still being built. Everything is in NM except for my 308 match rifle, my 280AI Kimber, and my shotgun. By the way, the duck opener here in WA kicks off on the 12th Time to break out the waders again and tune up the duck calls!

That's a super load. You guys are making me want another .277"... Ramshot's Magnum does look pretty decent with 150's in the 270. Wonder how it'd run in the 270WSM? Seems like anything that runs well in the 270 Win runs pretty well in the WSM too..

Magnum certainly appears to work in your .270, SaS. It has not been a star for me in a variety of cartridges. It can produce some fine groups and fine velocities; however, in general, as velocity increases, accuracy goes down. Still, I keep quite a bit around--hope grows eternal.

With my 270 I noticed it would do that with standard primers. But by switching to a magnum primer it turn a 180 and accuracy increased with charge.
