Nosler M48 Mountain Carbon 30 Nosler

My wife is the proud owner of a Nosler M48 Mountain Carbon in 30 Nosler!
This rifle weighs 6.0 lbs and has a 24" carbon wrapped barrel. Mounted a Leupold VX-6 3-18x44mm scope in PRW rings and a Warne Picatinny rail which puts this rig at 7 lbs 14.5 ozs. It's a dream to carry.
We got a zero and Sue took over. Her first shot was the 100 yard gong, HIT. The next 5 shots were at the 250 yard gong and they were all hits. She is absolutely digging this rifle. We need to get a load confirmed but RL22 and RL26 are shooting quite well. The last picture of the 250 yard gong shows hits with both RL22 and RL26 loads shot by Sue, brinky72 and myself.

Thanks fellas. I'm looking forward to getting some trigger time with it and finalize a couple of loads. I was surprised that the recoil wasn't bad at all for such a light weight rig without a muzzle break. Sue's only complaint was the trigger guard smacked the top of her finger a couple of times but a glove resolved that problem. Once we get the muzzle brake, she will be a happy camper without the glove.

Update-
Daniel Michael from Nosler reached out to me to let me know that the muzzle brake is on its way. Should have it in the next couple of days. Although the recoil isn't bad, the brake will turn it into a 243. I'm hoping to get some bench time soon to tweak a couple of loads.

I have noticed a marked decrease in felt recoil when using the Nosler muzzle brake...you will love it.

I developed some "bad" habits shooting my 18.5 lb 30-06 and got lazy in holding it firmly to my shoulder. When I shot my .30 Nosler Long Range (7.5 lbs) without the muzzle brake for the first time it was a rude awakening as the scope said hello to my forehead.

The muzzle brake went back on, I paid more attention on my form and I absolutely love my Nosler 48. *** But I wish they would come out with an adjustable cheek rest as an option***

In the mean time I use a Bradley Cheek Rest .

Thank you for the info. I agree, the recoil is nowhere near what I expected. My wife actually doesn't notice it and that's without the muzzle brake. The back of the trigger guard bit the top of her middle finger a couple of times. She started wearing a glove and I helped her with her hand position and grip and the issue was resolved. She doesn't mind the bump on her shoulder. The muzzle brake should bring the felt recoil way down.
I let her know that Daniel advised me that the brake is on its way and she was all smiles.

The muzzle brake arrived so we gave it a try on the 30 Nosler.
As I said before, the recoil isn't bad even though the rifle weighs in at 7 lbs 14 ozs. With the muzzle brake felt recoil was nothing! My shoulder kickometer told me if was like a 25-06. And that's shooting a 180 gr BT at 3050 fps. Sue hit the 250 yard gong several times and was a very happy girl!

Very nice. That is a sweet heart of a rifle. I agree with the recoil being very manageable. Nosler sure nailed that package as I’ve had many a 30-06 that has kicked harder. I’ll have to swing by and check out the brake. I might have to consider one later on as a retirement gift to myself.

How Loud ... you don't want to be on either side the shooter!!!

Made the mistake when I was hunting with my daughter - I was beside her when she took a shot - deafening loud.
