I was looking at the SPS and saw they had 180 gr Partitions and 180 gr Partition PP's.

I could not find what the difference is between the regular Partition and the PP on the Nosler sight.

Does anyone have any knowledge of what the PP is? Does anyone have any experience with these blems. I was wondering how bad they have to be to be blems or 2nds?

Protected Point--Whereas the usual configuration of the Partition bullets is a semi-spitzer design, the Protected Point is intended to prevent nose damage caused by battering in the magazines of heavy magnums. This design is particularly adaptable to cartridges that require deep seating to cut down overall length.

You guys are right on top of things. I'm going to start with the 180 gr Accubonds but I'm also wanting to try the Partitions out of my 300 Win Mag due to all the great reviews on these two bullets.

Hopefully they will shoot well pushed by some RL22.

Thanks for the help

I used the 180PP in a Mod 70 300WM just for the stated reasons. I prefer Mod 700s and have had great results, in several rifles, with just about any 180/76gr/R22. I also shot the 180PT in a 300 RUM, it was scary accurate. There is something to be said about the Partition- everything is compared to it! Good luck to you Pard.

I finally found 2 that I would consider blems in the 224" 55BT I've loaded over 1500 and the accuracy and performance you get out of them is awesome. With the PT you might not have perfectly uniform tips but they are close enough for me and game won't know the difference.

As already mentioned, the 308 180 gr PP was designed for the 300 Win Mag.
It does have a lower BC than the 180 PT. I have had sub MOA in three different 300 Win Mags
using 75.0 grs RL22 and the 180 grainers.

Yep... 300winmag and the PP are awesome.

My Ruger M77 shoots sub MOA with them all day long and up until a year or two ago it was the rifle/load that I had shot my smallest group with 1/3 MOA.

The most important point in the Protected point is that if you are cursed with a minimal magazine length with a long free bore rifle such as kimber Montanas you can use the protected point's over all length to get the bullet closer to the lands for much better accuracy.

I have never used the PP Partitions, I always managed with the regular PT's which for western hunting have higher Sectional Densities.

It is a trade off. I ended up using Speer hot core 200gr 338 bullets in my Kimber Montana (338 Fed) because with higher ballistic co-efficient bullets just wouldn't group worth a darn.

To start by using 180gr. Accubonds is likely the only bullet I would use over the Partition. I believe the advantage with the ABs are at longer distances but both bullets are top shelf (y).

Blessings,
Dan
