Have not handled any yet, but the photos show a distinct groove on the shank of the Nosler solids. It looks much larger than necessary for a crimp groove.

What is the purpose of this groove in the shank and should I crimp in it?

Thinking of the .375 H&H - which I have not yet crimped with any of my loads.

Thanks, Guy

Guy, I have been loading Barnes TSX and Banded Solids in my 375 RUM. Barnes only crimping on the heaviest of the Banded and not at all on the TSX... The groove on the Nosler, after comparing the two, looks to be more for enhanced flight than a crimp groov....

Yeah, I'm thinking it's there mostly to reduce friction in the bore.

Guessing though.

Guy,

The Solids are banded for crimping but I don't think it would be necessary with your 375 H&H.
Nosler Solids from l to r, .375 260 gr, .375 300 gr, .416 400 gr, .458 500 gr.
