We drove from Kramburg and the north camp back to the main lodge in about four hours. It was cold and the wind was miserable and we figured there was little hope in hunting, but that is why we were here. . .
Most the game was of course in sheltered pockets, but we saw plenty and were having a good time. The lower the sun sank the less the wind blew. We came to a plateau that drops into some sheer rock walls. At the base of one of these walls Ph Wik found a hound kudu bull and a nyala bull feeding in the thick stuff together.
We got the sticks up and I found the bull, just about 200’yards sharply downhill, but mostly broadside. Camera rolling, wind blowing, but I still felt prettt steady and confident. I fired the shot and the report came Loud from the bullet striking. The bull ran about 15 yards and cranked over dead. We could see him fine in a gap in the brush.
Took maybe twenty minutes to drive to the bottom. Then another twenty to hack and crawl to where he lay. Pictures and some drone footage and then carry him out. I have one mounted but I want this one also, saved the cape for a shoulder mount.
One of africas most beautiful animals and a gorgeous trophy, another great experience ends as we drive toward the sunset and the lodge where the fire will be waiting for us.

Nyala are such a beautiful animal. I would love a lifesize mount...just don't have the room!
I did get a shoulder mount on mine. Ii is finally done along with the rest of our european mounts and flat skins, and will be shipped soon!

Bushbuck often also have a white spot on their faces and that white chevron as well. My bushbuck has a very subdued yellow chevron. Not sure if that is from age, but it does seem to vary from animal to animal
