OK your Dream build????????????

Ah, good point idaho, i think they will be mounted on tje manfrotto past the 1k mark anyway. My geovids do pretty well up to that point.

Brian a 223 with a 75 grain amax is the best medicine for high volume medium tange prairie dogs. Ask joel, he has the gun i used last year.

G'Day Fella's,

I have a couple of rifles (1 x BRNO ZKK 600 & 1 x BSA Royal all Mauser 98 type, control feed actions) that I have set aside to rebarrel and restock!
I would like to make up 2 Mannlicher Full Wood rifles, the BRNO in .375 Ruger (I hope?) and the Beeza in 7x57 Mauser!!!
These would both have quality stock wood (Australian grown English Walnut), to the tip of there 20" barrels.
These projects have been simmering along for a while. Unfortunately, other Projects (one's that actually Make Money not actually Cost Money), keep getting priority!
Bugger!!!

Double Doh!!

Funny how that happens.

Jeff's (USMC89) dream rifles. I think Jeff is trying to shoot a yote or two in the lips this morning. He should be along shortly with more details.

I'd think coyotes would begin wearing masks so their lips don't show with those armaments in the vicinity.

My build back in 2008 was a few year dream that come to reality in late October 2008.

Sako m75 Greywolf with new barrel into a 338-06 Ackley Improved.

I'm tempted to do either a 280AI or 330 Dakota on a Sako action. If a 280AI, I would go with Macmillan Edge -Sako m75 Hunter style stock.

I guess there are two builds I'd like to do most. I'd like several others, including a matched pair in 308 and 358Norma, in CRF style actions, but the two I'd most want are a 6.5-280RCBSImp in a lightweight rifle, or a 7mmWSM walking powerline rig. I think the one that would win out is the 7mmWSM walking powerline. I'd build it on a Howa short action - one of the lightened models with the milled action sides. I'd swap out the bolt, though, as I don't want the heavy belled bolt, but rather a slimmer profile shaped and angled similar to a Browning A-Bolt handle. I'd have that slotted in the "ball" portion, and then slot the handle arm vertically, and cross drill it horizontally. I'm pretty sure I'd stick a Krieger cut-rifled barrel on it. I'd have it cut initially to 28" finished, and deeply fluted with 8-10 flutes. I'd include either a recessed target crown or an 11deg dish crown. Bed it in a Bell&Carlson Medalist Varmint stock, with the fluted forend and dual front studs - likely in tan but maybe green. Talley lightweight ringmounts to save weight, with either a 4-20x50 Minox ZA5, 6.5-20x50 Conquest, or comparable scope from Meopta, if they bring one to production. Oh, and I'd flute the bolt body pretty deeply, too, and use lightweight bottom metal and such to keep weight down.

This rig would be perfect for short treks out to a shooting house or powerline easement or long field, to simply set up and shoot long distances. I'd probably shoot a VLD in the 168-180gr weight class. Definitely a 9 or faster twist.

Man, not sure what my dream rifle would be, but this would be close.

I would like a M70 35 Whelen/35 Newton/358 Norma built on a Pre64 action, 24/24" #3 contour Krieger, 1-12 twist, Williams one piece bottom metal, all laid up in a really pretty piece of walnut. Top it with a 1.7x10 Z6 if I am dreaming, in a set of Talley QRW's.

No doubt

Had my dream build some years back. If I had that kind of money I would just by a Nosler Custom, because my dream builds were always hunting rifles and if you are going to spend a lot of money just get a Nosler Professional if it is a hunting rifle, it has everything I would want from barrel, to stock to trigger and finish. I would love one in 30-06 that would be my dream rifle and cartridge at this time.

Much agreement here. I'd like to spiff up my .25-06 700 CDL, but by the time I get it where I want it, a Nosler 48 makes a lot of sense.

BTW - was seriously considering having a classic Western style rifle built when I ran across the CDL years ago. It was very close to what I had envisioned.

Yes, the CDL is one fine looking rifle indeed and the CDL shoots great.

1. When I go back to Africa it will to be hunt Buff and Eland. I'd like to build a Mod 70 express rifle in 375 Ruger/416 Ruger. 24" Brux or Krieger barrel with barrel band and NECG front sight with a large front bead. I'd put Tally bases and QR rings on it. The rear base would have the Brockman's pop-up peep sight. I'll scope it with a Leupold VX-R 1.25x4 or the 1x6 VX6. The metal would be finished in black cerekote. I'll have two stocks. A really nice piece of bastogne walnut for dry hunts and a Mcswirly for when it has to go north to Alaska!

2. Win Mod 70 in 7mmRUM. 28" Pac-Nor fluted, 3 groove with a 1 in 8.5" twist(to shoot the the LRNAB 168 & 175). Stocked in a Win Supergrade walnut stock fully action bedded. Metal will be matte blued. The scope will be a Leupold 6.5x20 Mark 4 with Darrell Holland's Mil/Rad long range reticle in the 1st focal plain. This one will reach out and touch something! I have the action, stock and the base scope already - this one may happen sooner than later.

Guess Im pretty lucky- Im pretty close with these.

Savage 22WMR for my light work. This one is in a Boyds "Dakota Will" stock. A short test run for Savage rifles. The scope shoulld be replaced but it will shoot inch or less all day long at 100yds. After I did a liittle work the trigger breaks really well at 3.5 lbs. Who needs an accu trigger!
Deerhunting2012020.jpg

My old 250 needs a build. The trigger si 1.5 lbs and creepy. The wing safety is a pain (but I cant afford a winchester converson. The stock is a home made custom hunk fo walnut that fits me way to well, just like it grew off my arm, but the bedding is marginal. On the right day if my reloads are right and I get lucky, it will shoot an inch 5 shot group with 100 grn BT's at 2900fps  And it is the same rifle as Dads 7mm RM that I wanted one just like for as long as I can remember. Nuff said.

I have a savage FCHS in 243 w/ accu-trigger on lay a way that would make a sweet 250-3000.

Guess thats alll I need for a "Dream build". 'Course I did pass on a ruger RSI w/ a K-4 for $200 once. Man to have that chance back!
